The responsibility of a Vice President, Client Management is to build and maintain professional relationships with multiple clients and vendors, fulfilling account management duties, while overseeing a Client Services team or team(s).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Develop and maintain professional and productive ongoing client relationships with designated clients, ensuring elevated service levels are met with new and existing clients, including:

a. Maintaining regular contact and developing strong relationships with key decision makers within designated clients, including Human Resources VPs, Directors, Benefit Managers and key Finance team members

b. Managing, confirming and implementing service and compensation agreements with clients

c. Ensuring client service, renewal and timing standards are met or exceeded

d. Leading and directing ProView and Account Management teams as applicable, on plan implementations for new clients

2. Work with Case Managers and/or sales teams on client plan design, plan strategy, contribution strategies and new product options

3. Provide senior level consulting services to clients related to plan strategy, design and financial performance, including:

a. Coordinating plan renewal activities with Account Management teams, Underwriting and other internal departments and ProView teams, as applicable

b. Presenting client annual plan audits, advising clients on strategies for managing cost, improving business results and enhancing plan value

c. Meeting with clients and key contacts (at minimum) quarterly to review plan performance and service levels

d. Conducting employee and/or manager focus groups with appropriate reporting back to the client

e. Managing the delivery of all client claims and plan financial reporting, meeting with clients on a quarterly basis to provide commentary on financial implications

f. Providing clients with timely updates on industry trends and/or changes that can impact plan design, strategy, compliance, communication and/or administration

4. Conducting employee enrollment meetings

5. Advising clients on strategies and innovative approaches for technology, strategic integration of benefits and overall rewards strategy and administrative services

6. Developing a thorough understanding of internal processes, team member responsibilities and internal timelines so services can be accurately and effectively presented to the client

7. Understanding and presenting CarePlus programs and our enterprise-wide services

8. Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the optimal delivery of client services in collaboration with internal departments and ProView Account Managers, including:

a. Planning and developing systems, processes and procedures to effectively implement or renew client benefit plans

b. Managing project teams for effective and timely coordination of enterprise-wide services

9. Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department staff depending on client demands and budgetary availability, including:

a. Managing staffing plans, applicant selection and new hire job-specific orientation, coordinating with Finance and HR for recruitment and/or temporary help

b. Managing departmental budgetary forecasting, department spending, employee compensation, employee expenses and budget adherence

10. Oversee employee operations and activity, taking corrective action as necessary, ensuring compliance with all external regulatory agencies and organizations for all areas of responsibility, including:

a. Maintaining up-to-date job descriptions, performance expectations and communication of job duties with employees

b. On-going assessment, coaching and development of employee performance, knowledge, skills, career progression, workload and job-specific expertise, including conducting performance appraisals

c. Working with team members to create and set SMART goals that support the overall Company goals and objectives

d. Motivating and recognizing employees

e. Proactively providing training and education to ensure compliance requirements are met

f. Communicating with supervisors, managers and Vice Presidents regarding department operations and pending issues effecting other departments

g. Collaborating with other departments and/or department supervisors to develop effective cross-functional team workflows

h. Overseeing productivity and quality goals within the department, taking corrective action as needed

11. Ability to travel hours at a time both in cars and by other modes of transportation

12. Able to carry materials weighing 30 lbs

13. Other duties and projects as assigned


Required Skills and Competencies:

6. Strong active listening skills with the ability to ask thoughtful and probing questions to determine client needs

7. Ability to make clear, logical decisions based on facts, taking into consideration the big picture, long and short term effects, and exercising sound judgment when handling complaints, confidential and sensitive issues

8. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Publisher and MS Project

9. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, or combination of applicable experience and education

10. Minimum ten (10) years experience working for a benefits broker or insurance carrier in an Account Management or Sales position

11. Minimum six (6) years supervising employees

12. Strong working knowledge of health and welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, STD, and LTD insurance with demonstrated ability to explain, apply and understand of analysis techniques, benefit plan design and employee benefit laws

13. Active Life Agent License is required or must be obtained within three (3) months from hire date

14. HIPAA Certificate must be obtained within one (1) week of hire date

15. Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent positive results through influencing, coordinating and managing the efforts of others

16. Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions

17. Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions
