Our licensed Before and After School Program is our largest program, operating from mid- August through late May in 28 locations throughout Anchorage and Eagle River. This position has a split-shift schedule with time off mid-day that allows for their own professional development and a chance to complete higher level education.

The Assistant Site Director (formerly titled Child Development Leader) position engages in work to grow administrative, leadership & supervisor skills while assisting the Site Director to create a fun & caring environment for both the youth and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Conduct age appropriate programming activities with assigned group of children and provide a safe stable, fun, caring and learning environment for youth
- Attend to the maximum possible health, safety, and well-being of all persons involved in the program.
- Assist with daily preparation of site, clean-up, and activities as needed.
- Adhere to and maintain all licensing standards, applicable regulations, and CFA Policies.
- Keep supervisor apprised of all program matters.
- Assist the Site Director with
- completion of timely paperwork and reports; monitoring of daily snack and breakfast according to CACFP guidelines ; participant attendance; and staff record keeping
- maintaining program files/records in accordance with established procedures, ensuring confidentiality.
- procure program supplies, materials and equipment per established budgetary parameters as needed.
- strengthening relationships with parents, school personnel and the community
- supporting special program assignments such as parent events; program wide events and arrange for and coordinate transportation for field trips as needed.
- orientating new staff, and provide ongoing coaching and training as needed.
- In the absence of the Site Director, serve in their capacity, managing a school age program or a center site effectively.
- Participate in Site Director meetings, and other meetings and training opportunities as assigned by Supervisor.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, exemplifying CFA value statements, vision and mission in all actions, communications and relationships.
- Act as a positive adult role model by displaying appropriate adult behaviors and practicing Sound judgment.
- Complete a minimum of 24 hours of required training annually.
- In the absence of staff, provide coverage as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned to support Program and Agency needs and initiatives.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications and presentation skills.
- Work productively and effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Work effectively with a diverse population: multi-cultural, age, gender, etc.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Experience in program planning (utilizing best practices for risk management and quality program delivery), and working with youth (preferably school-age children) in a group and semi-structured setting
- Age requirement of twenty-one (21) years of age OR professional experience directly related to licensed or accredited school age or camp programs to substitute.
- Food Worker Card or the ability to obtain prior to reporting to work
Requirements that can be acquired after hire within an agreed upon time schedule.
- Willingness to acquire a minimum of twelve college credit (with at least 3 credits specific to early childhood education) hours in education, youth development or related field, over an agreed upon period of time.
- Ability to obtain Current Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, within 30 days of hire. (Camp Fire provides classes and paid training time)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 35 pounds.
- Possess adequate vision, hearing acuity, physical ability, strength and stamina to perform the required duties and responsibilities of this position and physical duties associated with program delivery such as physical exertion, crawling, hauling, lifting, swimming, hiking, etc.
- A majority of the work is performed at a school location, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, kneeling, in addition to going outside in various weather conditions and facilitating gym activities.
