Vice President – Finance and Accounting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall management and supervision of the accounting department which includes payroll, G/L, A/R, and A/P, period and year-end closing and financial statements.
  • Identify and lead financial systems upgrades and implementations.
  • Ensure all records are in accordance with GAAP.
  • Accountable for providing timely and accurate financial forecasting to the CFO and executive management. This may include financial modeling for market strategy and planning, economic uncertainty, P/E requirements and other industry changes.
  • Mentors staff including providing feedback on projects, establishing annual goals and objectives, and writing performance reviews.
  • Establishes objectives, practices, procedures and initiatives typically relying on corporate senior management for setting strategic direction, guidance and company-wide policies.
  • Help lead due diligence, M&A initiatives and valuations.
  • Research industry trends and changes.
  • Closely monitor all treasury functions including forecasting and monitoring cash flow.
  • Review and update annual budgets and forecasts to accurately account for changes that may directly impact the organization.
  • Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to co-workers in an open, balanced, and objective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • 12 + years of related accounting/finance experience
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • CPA required
  • Railroad experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Occasionally required bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. The associate is typically in an office environment but may travel and/or visit a railroad, port facility, warehouse or outdoor environment.
