Job Summary
Provide leadership and strategic direction for Swissport Cargo Services division within the Americas region. Directly responsible for financial and operational targets that impact profitability, revenue growth, and business development activities for the assigned region. Oversees customer relationships and leadership development initiatives for direct reports.
Job Responsibilities
Primary
- Leading and managing all cargo activities within the region
- Accountable for the results of the Americas region against targets agreed with Swissport HQ
- Responsible for business units within the region and network to include: safety, security, finance, operations, commercial, staff, administration and legislation
- Build strong business relationships with customers and suppliers
- Select, develop, coach and support own management team to excel in their roles
- Adhere to Global Account Management/CRM principles to win, retain and foster new business
- Negotiate with customers and suppliers in all aspects of contract management and customer agreements
- Close contracts and agreement of all service level agreements (SLAs)
- Ensure that all attachments/SLAs are fulfilled and maintained. Adhere to standards, service level agreements and key performance indicators (KPIs) with regards to the network, individual stations and product
- Be innovative and promote the introduction of new processes & product enhancements
- Accountable for quality, unit cost reduction and progressive collaboration with customers
- Responsible for the needs and coordination of all personnel within the region to ensure team effectiveness and efficiency
- Ensure optimization of all existing, and new warehouse facilities within region
- Ensure relevant ERP systems are updated to feed KPI monitoring modules and data-warehouses
- Develop and deliver the regional strategy in line with Corporate objectives

- Accountable for revenue generation and profitable growth within the Region
- Lead and implement the overall strategic direction / Business Plan within the region
- Manage ongoing business and operating performance in all aspects
- Manage and oversee the preparation of business cases and Investment Requests (IRR) within region
- Strong and inspired leadership in a multicultural environment
- Accountable for delivery of Swissport standards of safety, security, cost control, customer service, on-time and financial performance
- Adhere to Group Directives and Corporate Governance
- Deliver quality improvement and unit cost reduction programs

Develop cross-selling opportunities in close cooperation with other business lines

Ensure that cargo services translates its customer value proposition into workable product and service attributes that can be implemented and measured

Negotiate targeted commercial arrangements with airlines, integrators, freight forwarders, service providers and other suppliers in the region

Manage and coach line managers, support people development, staff performance management and compensation within the region working with key stakeholders, e.g. HR / Legal

Identify and develop talent potential and manage succession planning for the region

Deliver and implement change / project management for the region as required
Qualifications and Competencies
- University degree or equivalent, advanced degree in related field is advantageous
- 10+ years of experience in the cargo or logistics industry with a minimum of 5 years executive level experience leading and developing teams
- Strong leadership qualities
- Previous P&L responsibility
- Proven track record in high volume – low margin industries
- Strategic and commercial thinker
