The Department of Philosophy and the Parr Center for Ethics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seek to appoint a non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant Professor to be the Director of the joint Department/Parr Center APA-award-winning Outreach Program. The position has a start date of July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one undergraduate outreach-related class per semester and to oversee all aspects of the Outreach Program. These include securing graduate-student engagement with area schools, after-school programs, retirement communities, and other community institutions and organizations; managing contacts with local schools and matching appropriate undergraduate student interns to classroom needs; working with high-school Ethics Bowl coaches to prepare their teams for competition; developing new internship opportunities for undergraduates; and energetically pursuing new Outreach Program ideas and funding sources. Minimum Qualifications:
Experience will include working to integrate philosophy and/or ethics into existing K-12 curricula, grant-writing, and experience with ethics-bowl programs.PhD in philosophy preferred; at least an M.A. in philosophy is required.
