Job Summary
At Catalyst, we see technology as a powerful tool to enable our mission of improving healthcare. The clinical decision support team as a part of the larger product development team at Catalyst works on adding functionality and content to the Catalyst platform that can be deployed across Catalyst customers in a scalable fashion. It is our mission to provide clinical insights that can improve the quality and delivery of care. As a part of this team, Workflow Integration Engineers are focused on integrating Catalyst’s analytical applications and tools into end-user workflows. This encompasses the development of delivery mechanisms that can service up in analytical content into other tools that clinical end-users are already using. This integration into other systems at the point of care insures higher adoption of clinical and operational information, and faster time to action from insight.
The delivery of content through workflow integration requires a strong background in health information technology including electronic health records such as Epic and Cerner. Additionally a foundation in web development and health data information exchange through standardized interface languages like HL7 or FHIR are valuable assets.
Workflow Integration Engineers are responsible for standardizing the way we can integrate Catalyst analytical content into other tools such as Electronic Health Records. They are also responsible for assisting other product teams at Catalyst in designing products that can easily leverage integration capabilities that are built.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integration capabilities with external tools used by customers.
- Develop tools and functional capabilities that support a workflow action from insights gained from analytics.
- Provide guidance on the upgrading of existing catalyst products to incorporate new functional capabilities
- Provide technical guidance and architectural guidance to development teams
- Participate as a team member in planning sprints, software design, and developing and testing features
- Provide feedback to colleagues through code reviews and pair programming
- Deliver high level of customer support for software installs and support
- Actively solicit and incorporate feedback from clients and internal stakeholders on new software features and designs.
- Research and present new technologies to the software development team
Required Technical Skills
- SQL Server
- Familiarity HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- Strong Technical Expertise with at least one EHR (Epic or Cerner preferred)
- Familiarity with standardized interface languages (HL7 or FHIR)
- Agile development techniques
Highly Desirable Technical Skills
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks like Knockout, Require, jQuery, etcâŚ
- Database principles, processes, technologies, and tools (data modeling, design)
- Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) into a data warehouse
- Business Intelligence Experience (QlikView)
- Hadoop/MapReduce Experience
- Clinical experience

- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- High comfort level interacting with colleagues and with various levels of client organizations
- Strong sense of customer service to consistently and effectively addresses customer needs
- Ability to deal with highly sensitive information and adhere to data security, protocols and procedures
- Ability to mentor team members with lesser experience and skill sets
- Ability to adapt to change and learn new technologies quickly
Education & Relevant Experience
BS/BA in Computer science, information systems, or related healthcare technology experience
