Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to drive new business development (NBD) opportunities at BASF’s NA pharmaceutical customers for Pharmaceutical Excipients and Active Pharma Ingredients (API’s). You will manage an experienced team of Technical Service Managers. You will also manage, develop and mentor an application laboratory team, ensuring lab safety and supporting customer driven projects, training and new product application data generation.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your educational background in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, (preferred), or Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, and your deep knowledge in pharmaceutical excipients and drug formulation development you will support customers in their formulation challenges, leveraging the full BASF Pharma Solutions Product Portfolio.
  • Having a strong customer focus, you will work closely with customers (including personal visits), ensuring the specialized technical service for the pharmaceutical industry, identifying opportunities, evaluating needs, demonstrating and promoting the company’s products and helping customers solve their formulation challenges.
  • Demonstrating your technical support and troubleshooting experience, as well as your expertise in pharmaceutical processes and technical application of pharmaceutical excipients and actives, you will coordinate technical activities and provide technical solutions, setting priorities, promoting, monitoring and ensuring their correct application, aiming to ensure good customer service and high product quality levels.
  • Your advanced understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and troubleshooting including tableting, film coating, granulation, solubilization ( HME/ Spray Drying), preparation of creams, lotions, ointments, etc. will be essential as you interact with customers and generate NBD opportunities.
  • Successfully engaging within the organization, you will ensure the exchange of technical and market information with sales, technical, marketing, product management, regulatory and quality teams, both in NA and globally.
  • Your effective communication and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you represent the company in front of customers in technical events, pharma associations, regulatory discussions and other procedures involving the company’s name and products. These skills will also aid you in actively promoting existing and new BASF products, seeking new customers aligned with the sales team to improve business performance and results of the NA Pharma business unit, most notably by developing a thriving pipeline of projects with our customers.
  • Your unwavering commitment to workplace health and safety will be evident as you ensure strict compliance with the company’s quality, safety, health and environmental standards and procedures.
  • Utilizing your strong drug formulation knowledge you will manage customer technical projects at BASF’s pharma application laboratory in Tarrytown, NY. This will involve generating technical reports and technical publications at pharmaceutical conferences and scientific journals. You will also use these skills to conduct technical trainings, customer workshops and supporting new product launches.
