BAE Systems Inc, is currently recruiting for a Director of Strategic Sourcing to join our procurement leadership team within the Combat Vehicles team in the Platforms & Services sector. This Strategic Sourcing position will be a role that focuses on moving the needle for our Combat Vehicles (CV) team in leveraging CV and Global spend for improved supplier performance and material cost takeout. In addition, this role will be coordinating and leading with the existing commodity teams creating and managing Integrated Supplier a Partnering Agreements and Long Term Supplier (pricing) Agreements, also will be looking beyond those things that are “common across our business areas”. Directly supporting the Business Area Supply Chain teams, Strategic Sourcing will be providing resources, proven processes / techniques, and experience from prior program/project/commodity successes to new focus areas. This role will also be tasked with developing strategic sourcing strategies through influencing the Inc/Global commodity efforts but more so looking at our CV business and developing internal CV strategies that move the needle. This is a position which offers the bandwidth to develop material strategies beyond the day to day execution within Business Area Purchasing groups.
In this role you will need to be able to do the following:
Deliver value add procurement strategies, influencing senior leaders within the business to support implementation through the provision of a clear business case identifying the opportunities and communicating how any identified risks are being managed.
Reporting at a senior level on category progress.
Proactive management of suppliers on behalf of the group to ensure the category vision is achieved, working with senior leaders in the business as appropriate.
Promoting the role of procurement across the organization and the value add.
Evaluate complex situations using multiple sources of internal and external information.
Priorities, analyses and validates material, producing headline / summary reports for a senior audience.
Understand and challenge current ways of working to improve efficiency and drive collaboration.
Identify problems in order to suggest opportunities for continuous improvement.
Be bold and innovative in the approach to problem solving.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years experience.
Required Skills and Education
Experience of category management, working both domestically and internationally in a complex environment.
Track record in delivering savings.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
Ability to translate complex procurement guidance into simple, straightforward and practical advice.
Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and persuasive skills.
Project management skills.
