PowerSecure is hiring a Director of Engineering in our Durham, NC. location. The Director of Engineering is responsible for the cost, quality, functionality, and on-time delivery of engineering outputs for Distributed Power Generation, Switchgear (LV/MV), Control Systems, and Microgrid solutions to the manufacturing and service teams. The products designed by the Production Engineering teams are primarily used for Generator paralleling applications, standby power, utility load management, and Microgrids. Key responsibilities:
- Source, recruit, screen, hire, grow and retain a strong team of engineering talent with the capability to support the growth goals of the business. Empower and coach managers and team members to high levels of productivity, teamwork, and cross-department communication.
- Ensure clear visibility to current performance and goals related to the quality and timeliness of engineering outputs. Create a high sense of urgency within the engineering team to meet quality and delivery commitments.
- Set up metrics and KPIâs to measure current performance versus goals and drive continuous improvement and elimination of repetitive defects and deficiencies.
- Build sustainable processes and procedures which advance standardization, drive out errors, reduce engineering time/costs, and ensure compliance of engineering outputs with project specifications, functional requirements, relevant codes and standards, and established engineering practices.
- Ensure accountability for performance and adherence to behavioral norms that support a healthy, vibrant, creative working culture.
- Monitor and manage design engineering costs as well as the Bill of Material (BoM) design costs to ensure alignment with project budgets.

Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Required)
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA (Preferred)
- 15+ years of technical/engineering experience
- 10+ years of management experience in an engineer-to-order manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proven ability to build strong teams and lead people to overcome challenges and achieve aggressive goals
