Job Summary:

Position will be responsible for managing the Collections and Remittance functions for North America. This involves management of the Collections and Remittance groups as well as managing policies and procedures. The position will report to the VP of North American Operations in continuous efforts to improve receivables turnover and apply proper measures to minimize risk of losses. The Position will have overall responsibility for global reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of collection and recovery efforts and initiate programs and procedures to adjust to the changing economic environments and new product initiatives.
  • Partner with operations and management teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of credit reports and analysis
  • Monitor customer collections and account balances to ensure compliance to established collection policies and practices and payment terms to minimize credit risk.
  • Recommend expected write-off exposure for management to account for the Doubtful Account Reserve. Responsible for meeting the delinquency/charge off ratios as established by the board of directors.
  • Establishes and directs the implementation and management of policies and procedures related to remittance, collection, modification, and charge off to ensure a strong system of internal controls and insure compliance with regulations.
  • Negotiates and monitors the contractual arrangements with outside collection agencies and credit reporting agencies. Ensure that vendors are managed within the framework of the bank’s vendor management program. Act as subject matter expert in the daily processing and file transmission for all payment and deposit related vendors.
  • Ensure all customer payments are received in a timely manner, posted correctly to the billing system and tied out to bank account.
  • Addresses ongoing customer and PUC complaints concerning Collections and works on complaints of service failures with designated departments.
  • Ensure the Collections team meets customer contact and collection call volumes standards.
  • Reviews systems used for financial record keeping including the issuing of receipts, auditing bank deposits and payments in accordance with proper segregation of duties. Assist with post-closing items, recording issues, and Remittance matters as needed.
  • Develops new ideas for analytics, process improvement and data integrity. Ensure the team meets or exceed metrics set for daily, weekly and monthly timelines, accuracy, productivity and support.
  • Coordination, support and management of the Collections and Remittance teams of 10-15 people, including employee development, performance evaluation, hiring decisions and establishing goals and performance objectives.
  • All other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains member and other sensitive information with confidentiality.

Years of Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration or related field required. At least 10 years of direct experience in the field and 10 years of management experience.
  • Advanced degree or certification (CPA, CMA, CFE etc.) desired.
  • Knowledge of finance and financial markets and tools for securing transactions.
  • Industry knowledge considered a plus.

  • Occasional travel will be required.
