Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio is actively seeking an individual with a passion for making a impact by assisting adolescent program scholars. The Academy Assistant Director is a full-time, staff member responsible for supporting the mission and values of Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) by supervising and overseeing all aspects of the after school and summer sessions on campus to ensure high quality implementation of the mission, goals and objectives of Boys Hope Girls Hope of NEO. The Academy Assistant Director will ensure the effective functioning and coordination of a team of staff, volunteers, BHGH Scholars and program partners, while supervising the logistics and site schedule of the Rajan Center.

Essential Duties:

  • Serves as the leader and supervisor in the BHGH Rajan Center of activities for all Scholars in middle school, high school and post-secondary.
  • Building management and direct supervision of all Rajan Center activities, including three evenings per week of site supervision.
  • Serve as the Summer Site Director of the Rajan Center for all summer sessions
  • Maintain appropriate and regular communication with the Director of Academy Programming
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with current Boys Hope Girls Hope school partners and provide regular updates on the program and scholarship opportunities
  • Establish new relationships with public, private and charter schools and other appropriate contacts in order to educate them on the nature and purpose of Boys Hope Girls Hope and partner with them on enrollment needs

In conjunction with the Director of Academy Programming, develop and implement a recruiting plan for Academy program participants by:

  • Conduct annual recruitment, assessment and selection process of new Hope Prep cohorts. Conduct similar admissions process to fill program openings in current cohorts as needed
  • Work effectively and proactively with our partner agencies to gather referrals for The Academy program by:
  • Articulating clearly the BHGH program and profile of children ideally suited for placement
  • Visiting and presenting the BHGH program a schools and parent meetings
  • Document all calls, visits and presentations
  • Manage the application and interview process, including but not limited to:

Screen all referrals and communicate appropriateness for placement based on Scholar profile to both the referring agent as well as the Director of Academy Programming and the Director of Residential Life

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work or a related field with demonstrated experience working
  • Two (2) years working with adolescent youth
  • Strong written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills to establish effective working relationships
  • Experience supervising the logistics and schedule of a a multi-purpose site to provide a high-quality experience for youth
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Passion for the mission of BHGH
