We are looking for an analytically-minded and solution-oriented Client Financial Analyst who will approach work with a sense of possibility, sees challenges as opportunities and has a relentless passion and curiosity for process improvement. This role will report to the VP, Global Client Finance.

OEM PR Storyteller
Weber Shandwick is currently seeking an experienced Vice President to provide U.S. communications support for an OEM vehicle brand.
The media landscape is changing. The rise of video, data viz, snackable content, paid media in the earned space, smaller newsroom staffs and more requires conventional PR storytelling to change its approach as well. We’re looking for a storyteller who has worked in and understands the modern newsroom (print, broadcast, digital). What’ll this person do? Identify story opportunities, work with Subject Matter Experts; mine first and third-party data to support story; ask for and help develop (with a full creative team) modern media assets that media will use to help tell the story; develop target media and those who might influence those media. A PR story needn’t be just a press release, video Broll and still photography. The ideal candidate knows this and has other ideas. How do we best tell a given story? Is a podcast the way to go on a given story? Maybe What are our competitors doing in the space and how can our story differentiate itself? Why would readers / consumers care about our story? What’s in it for them? These questions that come naturally and quickly to this candidate.

Ideally has newsroom or journalism experience. This person reports to Weber Shandwick Detroit senior leadership.

The candidate will assist our OEM product team with:
  • Product communications including written materials and research
    • Masterful AP style capability is mandatory
  • Facility with and ability to interview varied subject matter experts; mine stories, conduct knowledgeable technical research; know how to find first-and third-party data
  • Product research including competitive research
  • Develop unique media assets
  • Develop strong and unique media and influencer lists
  • Develop (and write) media materials
  • Provide storytelling guidance
  • Intimately understand business of vehicle segment business and competitive set
Basic Qualifications:
  • Have 7-10+ years communications or journalism experience, experience working in auto field is beneficial but not required
  • AP style writing is mandatory
  • Intellectually curious: reads multiple publications
  • Is eager to go deep on story mining; knows what media will care about; what customers care about; what influencers care about
  • Passionate about the constantly changing world of media with ability to drive thought leadership for clients and the agency
