Vice President, Distribution and Logistics

This position requires proven leadership with the skills and expertise to implement and sustain an effective operation that will support current business and future growth. They must bring a high level of experience, creating the role to be most effective with transportation routing, safety and regulatory issues. Develop a high-level service offering, motivating and leading staff while optimizing costs, increasing revenues and improving profitability.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Introduces, sets goals and manages KPIs following cost efficiency via route optimization, trailer utilization, productivity, overtime management, etc. while maintaining the companys customer service expectations.
• Oversees the daily activities of the Transportation and Warehouse Departments
• Coordinate efforts with Warehouse Managers, ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Reviews all accident investigations with Safety. Supports safety department as needed
• Controls, sets and maintains pick up efficiency goals while meeting or exceeding customer service expectations, ensuring efficient route dispatch of trucks, work safety management, and regulatory issues.
• Complete planning activities for both short term and long-term goals of the business including budgetary planning, analysis, and performance review.
• Work in coordination with other company business units and develop the strategic and tactical direction for the business.
• Establish management processes and metrics for performance and be accountable for financial performance and growth.
• Supervise process improvement internally and in the companys partnerships with customers and vendors.
• Manage carrier acquisition, negotiating pricing and carrier development strategy.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelors degree in related field

Experience:

• Must have 8+ years experience managing Transportation and Logistics operations
• Experience with computer fleet management systems
• Ability to manage financial reports; previous experience and accountability for multi-million dollar budgets preferred

• Effective communication with all levels of employees
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate
• Must be capable of sharing and articulating the vision and goals, capable of long-term planning, facilitating the strategies and action steps needed to exceed expectations for both department and overall company goals.
