Position Summary:
This position requires proven leadership with the skills and expertise to implement and sustain an effective operation that will support current business and future growth. They must bring a high level of experience, creating the role to be most effective with transportation routing, safety and regulatory issues. Develop a high-level service offering, motivating and leading staff while optimizing costs, increasing revenues and improving profitability.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Introduces, sets goals and manages KPIs following cost efficiency via route optimization, trailer utilization, productivity, overtime management, etc. while maintaining the companys customer service expectations.
- Oversees the daily activities of the Transportation and Warehouse Departments
- Coordinate efforts with Warehouse Managers, ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reviews all accident investigations with Safety. Supports safety department as needed
- Controls, sets and maintains pick up efficiency goals while meeting or exceeding customer service expectations, ensuring efficient route dispatch of trucks, work safety management, and regulatory issues.
- Complete planning activities for both short term and long-term goals of the business including budgetary planning, analysis, and performance review.
- Work in coordination with other company business units and develop the strategic and tactical direction for the business.
- Establish management processes and metrics for performance and be accountable for financial performance and growth.
- Supervise process improvement internally and in the companys partnerships with customers and vendors.
- Manage carrier acquisition, negotiating pricing and carrier development strategy.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in related field
Experience:
- Must have 8+ years experience managing Transportation and Logistics operations
- Experience with computer fleet management systems
- Ability to manage financial reports; previous experience and accountability for multi-million dollar budgets preferred
Skills and Ability:
- Effective communication with all levels of employees
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate
- Must be capable of sharing and articulating the vision and goals, capable of long-term planning, facilitating the strategies and action steps needed to exceed expectations for both department and overall company goals.
