Project Manager/Transformation Leader- Savannah Gypsum
Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is seeking to add a well-qualified Project Manager/Transformation Leader to work on the Engineering Design Team to design, deploy, and optimize high value initiatives for the Gypsum manufacturing plant in Savannah, Ga. This leader will be responsible for interacting with other Engineering disciplines, Corporate Support Experts, as well as the plant Operations and Reliability departments in developing sustainable Digital Process Optimization-based initiatives that deliver long term value and advance the plant to best in industry standards
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
- Lead the implementation of transformation strategies that could later be scaled across the Gypsum business and Building Products
- Leads transformation team at the site, sets priorities and mentors employees to apply MBMÂŽ in ways that are consistent with our Guiding Principles
- Responsible for executing the site’s automation and digital process optimization (DPO) portfolio developed in conjunction with the business and in alignment with the long-term reliability strategy at the facility
- Assists Plant Manager by focusing on and leading transformation initiatives across multiple disciplines that optimize operating efficiencies
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with internal customers as well as with divisional resources in Automation/DPO, Operations and various other capabilities
- Strong project management skills, problem solving, sense of urgency, customer focus, and team building.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present to senior leadership; planning and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Capable of managing individual projects as well as the overall transformation portfolio
- Work with SMEs in the business to help advance Automation and DPO initiatives and projects
- Ability to collaborate across roles and diverse groups, gather and share feedback
Organizational Responsibility:
Position reports to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Director of Automation & Operations Innovation
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in a leadership role
- Three (3) or more years of hands-on engineering experience within a manufacturing operation
- Willing and able to travel up to 20% initially – subject to increase with expanded responsibilities
- Experience leading projects, coaching and mentoring others within a manufacturing environment (i.e. demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and transfer knowledge to get results)
- Experience using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook, AutoDesk
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree – Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing
- Previous experience working in a Gypsum wallboard manufacturing business
- Experience in data gathering, remote monitoring of assets, and robotics
- Previous experience creating/updating AutoCAD drawings
- Previous experience leading automation/transformation teams and initiatives
- Previous experience managing a large portfolio of projects
- Experience working in a Market Based Management (MBMÂŽ) culture
