This position is within the Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) Facilities Engineering & Maintenance Center of Excellence. The selected candidate will initially work under the guidance of a more senior architect with the goal of quickly becoming an independent subject matter expert. Duties will include:

  • Leading architectural & engineering (A&E) teams in the conceptualization, estimation, design, and construction administration for large facilities projects including site rearrangements and relocations
  • Supporting new business proposal efforts by translating mission requirements into facility requirements
  • Providing expert-level analysis, validation, and correction of facility construction estimates
  • Drafting statements of work (SOWs) and requests for proposal (RFPs) in appropriate contractual terms
  • Coordinating between RMS Facilities and Lockheed Martin Corporate Properties organization
  • Working across RMS enterprise (largely in the eastern United States) to lead business initiatives and spread improved project management practices
  • Working independently, under direction, and as a supporting member of construction project teams
  • Traveling up to 50% to various domestic and international sites.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management with at least ten years of relevant experience
  • Extensive project management experience leading construction projects exceeding $5M
  • Strong construction estimating background with ability to estimate at conceptual and detailed levels
  • Experience with design and construction industry including remodeling, renovation, and new construction
  • Working knowledge of building systems such as electrical, HVAC, fire alarm/suppression, and telecom
  • Ability to generate and/or manipulate floor plan layouts in CAD design software
  • Ability to communicate effectively at the executive level and the construction site
  • Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%


Desired Skills:

  • Work with programs to translate mission requirements into facility technical and operational requirements
  • Document and present technical building requirements required to support business pursuits
  • Translate executive-level vision into achievable and executable project plans
  • Familiarity with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) sustainability standards
  • Experience in environment, safety, and health; building inspection; energy auditing; and code enforcement
  • Working knowledge of building codes, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and security construction standards such as DCID 6/9, ICD 705, and NISPOM
  • Project financial acumen and experience with procurement and contracting
  • Experience working domestically and internationally
