DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage various IT projects from project initiation through project completion. This position will collaborate with business users from multiple Woodgrain business groups and locations, to define and implement “best practice” business processes, IT applications and IT infrastructure solutions that will be utilized across the Woodgrain organizations in support of business goals and objectives. This position will be responsible for the creation and management of project charters, budgets and timeline, in addition to managing the project work for the duration of the project.
This position will work with a team of Functional experts, Configuration Analysts, SAP Integration Manager, external System Integrators and IT Infrastructure experts to ensure solutions are standardized and integrated across Woodgrain. The ability to effectively collaborate with other team members and business leaders is essential in this role. This position will require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
- Provide project management for multiple IT projects, both application and infrastructure as assigned by IT management
- Management of project items including preparation of project plans, cost estimates, timelines, and tasks. Provide timely project status updates
- Working with Business and IT Analysts to understand business functional needs
- Capture detailed functional requirements document and maintain in standard templates and tools
- Provide project communications and change management leadership
- Work with and help to manage the work of consultants and external systems integrators as needed
- Work with IT resources and business users to define Best Practice business processes and identify exceptions to be resolved
- Provide change leadership and apply facilitation and negotiation skills when division-level compromise is required to arrive at a standard, “best practice” process that is advantageous for Woodgrain
- Assist with the implementation of IT solutions, including: building test cases, performing unit and integration testing, generating user guides, and providing user training
- Continuously seek new opportunities to improve business processes
- Provide on-going application support and creatively solve complex issues that may arise involving the process under evaluation, using strong, analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to set and meet deadlines
- Work with minimal supervision
- Progressively exceed daily workload requirements with efficiency
- Frequent travel to other Woodgrain locations as required
SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years relevant experience
- PMP certification preferred
- Prior experience with SAP/ ERP implementations
- Prior experience with IT infrastructure projects
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies
- Ability to analyze business processes, define solutions, and communicate required changes
- Ability to lead groups of people and facilitate constructive discussion, brainstorming, and decision-making
- An understanding of and experience with manufacturing and distribution processes, terms and methodologies
- Expert understanding of an ERP system and the ability to comprehend overall business impacts of all ERP changes
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty around projects and initiatives and capable of adapting to changing priorities
- Creative problem solving, root cause analysis skills and the ability to apply the KISS principle (keep it simple)
- Acts as a change agent and helps ensure the business has a smooth transition (has empathy and compassion)
- Ability to learn independently, virtually, or in a class setting, the SAP ERP functionality
- Quality-oriented attention to detail a must
- Project management skills and effective time management
- Proficient with Windows based software programs
- Reports to the SAP Program Manager
- No direct supervisory responsibilities
- Travel to multiple sites as required.
