Under general supervision, the IT Project Manager I provides project management and communications support to Directors, Managers, the PMO, and other Project Managers within the OCIO. This position assists with project management activities, updates, and reporting across existing and new application implementations within the academic, research, and healthcare information system portfolios. This position serves as a project manager, providing leadership, overseeing communications, and managing project requirements under the limited supervision of a senior PMP staff member, for projects with limited scope and impact. This role assists with the timely facilitation of issues management, risk assessments, project management documentation, budgeting, reporting and communication. The position is responsible for the timeliness, accuracy, and recording of their project information to ensure transparency of information for PMO leadership and team members. The IT Project Manager I is expected to comply with, support, and provide feedback on enterprise-wide project management methodologies as defined by the OCIO PMO. This position serves in a support role to other project managers across the MUSC enterprise.
Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of work experience, or Masterâs degree in Business, Information Systems, Health Administration, or related field. Work experience must be in supporting or leading project activities, information technology, or in healthcare. CAPM credential required or within 6 months of hire. Prior experience supporting project activities during a revenue cycle, clinical system, ERP, or other major multi-disciplinary implementation or integration project preferred. Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel required, with working knowledge of MS Sharepoint and MS Project desired. The ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment is essential. Ability to work with multiple technical managers and project teams simultaneously is required. Excellent interpersonal skills required to foster collaborative partnerships in a team environment. Ability to effectively facilitate recurring project meetings desired. Presentation skills desired.
