Head of Revenue

This is a newly created role that will report directly to the CEO. The successful hire will lead the revenue generation process for all components of the business (excluding events), along with accelerating the growth of the business. The key driver for this role is creating a holistic view of revenue growth opportunities, driving the development and execution of a strategy to cut across the organizational segments to drive accelerated growth and new customer bases.

The client’s ideal candidate will have an extensive track record of building new revenue streams and attracting new customers across the News Agency and B2B markets. The individual will be expected to lead the sales and customer success teams globally. Will also be a key member of the executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, define, build and flawlessly execute the revenue growth strategy.
  • Align sales & customer success teams to accelerate growth.
  • Identify key skills and capabilities gaps in existing organization and hire / develop to drive world class execution.
  • Drive organizational culture shift from service center operation to a highly engaged, agile commercial organization focused on growth.
  • Focus on growing all key metrics that comprise a successful revenue fuel mix. (ie, Gross Recurring Sales, Transactional Sales, Contract Value, Retention, etc)
  • Provide strategic leadership, be hands-on with sales & marketing teams to ensure growth development in direct sales, indirect sales, lead generation, and field marketing.
  • Identify new customer opportunities with enterprise-level customers, ensuring best practice in closing revenue and long term partnerships.
  • Be a hands-on sales leader, and a shining example to other members of the sales leadership team.
  • Work closely with the executive committee to continue development of the business growth.
  • Partner with CMO on sales and marketing strategies including field materials and demand generation programs to enable revenue growth and diversification.
  • Data driven approach in understanding customer sets, market trends, performance management.
  • Ability to build a strategic sales organization that represents today’s modern media necessities.


Must-haves:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience at the executive level within the media industry, leading all sales responsibilities
  • Proven track record in scaling high growth media businesses
  • Have consistently over-achieved sales quotas and targets
  • Min 5-7 years Global Sales Management experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, acting as an inspiration to their team
  • Highly networked and seen as an expert in their field
  • Commercially focused, with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to navigate and influence across the organization to drive to resolution and execution
  • Proven track record of successful organizational change management experience and ability

Reporting to the CEO, and as a member of the leadership team, the Head of Revenue has the following responsibilities:

  • Work with the CEO and other leadership to develop the annual business plan and growth targets
  • Develop and execute short, mid and long term strategies for Sales, customer acquisition and engagement.
  • Grow, and develop a dynamic sales team
  • Mentor and provide leadership to a growing business and develop an engaging and positive work culture
  • Overall responsibility for leading Sales, and partnership with Marketing and Product on new product launches, the development and execution of marketing plans


Potential Candidates Will Have The Following Experience

  • Experience leading the Sales functions with P&L responsibility for a media and/or new agency business
  • A track record of high revenue growth in sales in all regions of the world
  • Proven track record of recruiting and developing a successful sales business
  • Prior experience in media is a necessity
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
