What’s the role?
Direct overall operations of the Northwestern Mutual Credit Union (NMCU) as a full -service financial organization, implementing goals and objectives determined by the NMCU board of directors. Oversee, control, and direct NMCU’s investment, loan, customer service, compliance, risk management, marketing, product development, asset-liability management, and accounting functions. Author, implement, and monitor the annual business plan including growth and revenue forecasts, operating budget, cash flow analysis, investment analysis, and capital expenditures. Maintain NMCU information systems through the identification of, and relationships with, strategic vendors and partners. Report to the board of directors at its monthly meeting and as necessary.
Manage the people, processes, and operations of the NMCU. Assure that NMCU complies with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain the financial safety and soundness of membership assets. Oversee NMCU systems and procedures to ensure availability of service to membership. Propose new and updated policies and standards for approval by the NMCU board of directors.
Administer human resource matters in accordance with Northwestern Mutual (NM) procedures and guidelines. Report to NM assigned liaison regarding human resource and other administrative and facility matters per the NM/NMCU Services Contract. Effectively manage staff to ensure compliance with NM’s Affirmative Action Program.
Bring Your Best! What this role needs:
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in a credit union or large, complex financial institution, or in a related audit function, where the incumbent demonstrated strong business knowledge and skills in the areas of leadership, planning, negotiation, decision making, and sound judgment.
- Recent credit union executive-level experience is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to accurately anticipate future consequences and trends.
- Strong working knowledge of investment markets, principles, and products is required.
- Overall work experience must include a minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory responsibility.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills with demonstrated ability to interact professionally with external contacts and customers at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate is required.
- Strong strategic, organization, and creative-thinking skills as well as the ability to work independently with a minimum of direction from the NMCU board of directors.
- Solid working knowledge of technical business applications and personal computer software applications.
