Business Analyst / Assistant Vice President for EDGM Data Governance Solutions team.

We are building capabilities that will transform the way we think about data – working on understanding the enterprise wide data with discovery and profiling of information assets; construction of a common vocabulary/taxonomy to drive standardization and common meaning of our information assets; sourcing data only from trusted repositories to maximize commonality and reuse; curating data with business and technical metadata to drive data life cycle visibility and end to end lineage; mastering, integrating and delivering data to State Street employees and clients alike by keeping information organized, easily accessible and useful.
We are looking for someone who is deeply interested in understanding our vast array of data assets, and can join our Solutions team to help with the management and delivery of Processes, Tools and Products for Data Governance services. The role is within the EDGM business team. The ideal candidate should understand and embody the data governance and management principles and have a strong understanding of data governance, data architecture, data quality management, metadata management, master data management, data privacy and security.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate would spend the day partnering with stakeholders and capability managers to understand the implications of State Streetâs evolving Data Governance Policy and Standards and define requirements around business implications.
- Understand the State Street Data Governance Policy and Standards on an ongoing basis.
- Identify & develop processes, tools and guides to accelerate Governance activities.
- Document business requirements and specifications as needed for overall reference.
- Translate business requirements into Epics and Stories for the IT agile teams.
- Work with vendors to understand and leverage the features of IBMâs InfoSphere Information Server, and its primary components (Information Governance Catalog, Information Analyzer, Stewardship Center, Information Metadata Assets Manager, Open-IGC etc.)
- Validate the delivered solutions to ensure that business requirements have been met.
- Assist in Project Management and Reporting functions.
Qualifications:
Must haves:
- Excellent verbal, written, facilitation and presentation skills are a primary requirement.
- Data Collection and Analysis skills using SQL tools, Excel to gather information from data.
- Working knowledge of MS-Office tools, MS-Visio and MS-Project for day-to-day functions.
- Strong understanding of data structures and data-catalogs in structured databases (Oracle, SQL Server etc.) and un-structured data repositories (Hadoop, Cloudera).
- Working knowledge of the Data Governance foundational practice.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-On experience with IBM InfoSphere Information Server and its components.
- In-depth/ hands-on experience with Data Governance
- Experience in Agile Methodology and in the delivery of projects using Agile practices.
- Past experience as Agile team member in the role of Scrum Master or Product Owner.
