Worship Director

Position Title: Worship Director
First Baptist Church – Columbus
Accountable to: Senior Pastor & Worship Ministry Church Council Chair
Note: This is a part-time position, approximately 20 hours/week.

Basic Requirements:

• Testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him
• Have a minimum of a BA/BS in music or worship in the arts degree or equivalent experience
• Mature faith compatible with the theology and culture of First Baptist Church as part of American Baptist Churches USA
• Vocal and instrumental ability
• Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to collaborate
• An appreciation for different worship styles
• Prior experience in music leadership a plus

Relationships:

• Responsible to the Senior Pastor and Worship Team, working with them to guide the development of the worship services
• Participate in First Baptist Church worship life
• Position Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with senior pastor to plan worship
• Plan, rehearse, and implement appropriate music for all worship services
• Recruit, rehearse and conduct various worship groups (vocal and instrumental choirs, drama groups, praise team/band).
• Coordinate members of the Technology and Audio/Visual teams, utilizing audio/visual presenter tools and video technologies for implementation in worship services
• Collaborate with Worship Ministry Chair to submit annual budget
• Coordinate with musicians both from within and outside the community, to provide special music as needed
• Participate in Worship Planning team meetings
• Comply with personnel policies of First Baptist Church
