About the Role
We’re looking for a Head of Finance to lead, manage, and grow the finance function at Buffy. The Head of Finance will have functional responsibility for all finance and accounting operations, including cash management, financial planning, financial analysis, accounting and budgeting. The Head of Finance will be an integral part of the leadership team, partnering with other leaders to enhance and better integrate Finance with other functions in the business. You will report directly to our co-founder and SVP of Operations, and also work closely with our CEO.
The Head of Finance will
- Build and manage the company’s finance and accounting functions, including cash management, financial modeling & forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
- Analyze financial and economic performance to (a) optimize Buffy’s business model, (b) provide strategic recommendations on operational and financial initiatives and (c) make decisions on resource deployment, including capital, liquidity & expense dollars
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to provide financial modeling support for new business initiatives, new product development, long-term contracts, and other corporate development initiatives
- Partner with leadership on fundraising strategies, capital sourcing and capital structuring, utilizing your existing relationships and building new ones across the finance community
- Create a culture of collaboration and high performance by recruiting, developing, and inspiring talented finance professionals
- Oversee cash flow planning to ensure company maintains sufficient liquidity
- Oversee budgeting cycles, including the development of budgets and subsequent variance analyses to drive accountability throughout the organization
- Support with investor relations, including crafting fundraising materials as well as interacting with current and prospective investors
- Work closely with SVP of Ops and CEO sharing insights into financial trends, operational results, and growth drivers for the business
Qualifications:
- 8-15 years of work experience, with at least six years of direct experience in FP&A, investment banking, corporate finance or within the finance team of an e-commerce company
- Demonstrated track record of successfully building and scaling a finance organization from the ground up, including hiring, systems and controls
- Proficiency in modern finance and accounting software and platforms
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey recommendations and conclusions to senior leadership
- Ability to challenge the senior leadership team on key strategic and operational decisions
- In-depth operational focus with a demonstrated ability to promote the use of financial metrics as well as a track record of standardizing data and processes across functions
- Comfort working and communicating with all levels of the organization and with business partners
- BA/BS in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics from a top university, or MBA degree
