Description

The Vice President of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the overall sales award success of Backstage Library Works — located in Provo, Utah and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania — and in providing ongoing training and support to account representatives, marketing and other internal sales support staff. This position reports to the president and is essential in coordinating efforts and resources on behalf of the team in order to fulfill sales and marketing goals throughout the year.

Expectations

  • Accurate forecasting, customer evaluation and procurement reports; consistent achievement of sales quota, forecasted sales awards, and unit targets; consistent update of all CRM systems / reporting on market and competitor activities.
  • Preferred experience in managing a range of teams with technical, product, and customer market operation expertise.
  • Agile in changing environments with ability to effectively lead teams through change.
  • Gather, analyze, and distribute intelligence on products, market conditions, competitors, and customers leveraging information such as: competitor product offerings, roadmaps, campaigns including ads and social media, news, and participation in industry trade shows and webinars.
  • Manage formal win / loss analysis program, collaborating with sales, conducting or overseeing customer and prospect debrief interviews, and delivering feedback across the organization in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-grad and management experience working in a library, library tech vendor, or library trade association with experience in marketing and hands-on with technology solutions, including sales experience.
  • Up to 25% of out-of-town travel to visit potential clients, to accompany existing sales team members, and meet with production staff in the two company facilities and to other client-facing events — meetings in libraries, at conferences and other programming.
  • Sell a portfolio of services which includes preservation digitization and microfilm; cataloging; retrospective conversion; reclassification; record upgrade; authority control; data conversion; and onsite services to libraries and other cultural institutions.

Essential Duties

  • Leads a sales team to success in achieving each of their budgeted sales awards goals; tracking progress on a weekly / monthly / quarterly frequency and sharing actionable results with relevant managers across the organization.
  • Mentor and train all sales team members to be proficient in identifying and developing an account relationship that results in revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of all company service offerings.
  • Responsible to report to the company leadership weekly on sales efforts and KPI attainment for all service offerings.
  • Enthusiastically work within a team-centered environment, demonstrating the ability to initiate solutions to resolve internal and external issues.
  • Manage and lead activities related to client relationships, which includes, customer on-boarding, contracting, and business reviews.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $85,000 to $105,000 based on relevant experience.
  • Benefits include 15 days of paid vacation leave per year; private health, dental and visions plans; end-of-year profit-sharing bonus; 401(k) savings plan with up to 6% of gross pay matched by Backstage; term life insurance package; bereavement leave; some educational expense reimbursement.
  • Location negotiable (prefer candidate is located near metropolitan area within the U.S.).
