With more than 380,000 people served and $170 million in revenue, the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities is seeking an experienced servant leader to join our operations leadership team. This position is responsible for direct leadership of a multi-million-dollar location while simultaneously overseeing multiple branches and programs.

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for managing a major segment of operations including multiple branches along with other Association wide responsibilities. This includes ensuring branches implement Association strategic tenets in Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility, meet annual contribution goals and financial targets, and ensure member retention. The incumbent provides strong leadership direction to Executive Directors, Branch Directors and team members. The incumbent provides positive and consistent staff development and succession planning. The VP Operations reinforces the Y’s values within the organization and the community. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer who reports to the President/CEO.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/human services or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible executive operations management experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of the Y’s mission.
  • Extensive professional experience in a broad range of Y program positions.
  • Proven management abilities in community and government relations; budget development and financial control; staff management and development; strategic planning and policymaking; and volunteer development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated maturity, good judgement, and excellent human relations skills.
  • Ability to think conceptually, portrays good analytical skills, and demonstrates assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ability to provide leadership to multiple branch locations.
  • Experience working effectively within a matrix, mission oriented, and diverse environment.

Preferred:

  • YMCA or non-profit experience preferred.
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership for the assigned branches in achieving the branch and association strategic tenets.
  • Leads and implements major initiatives for the Association as directed by the COO.
  • Provides strong leadership to the development and management of effective branch community boards and volunteer bases ensuring goals and objectives of their branches are met.
  • Ensures high performance and success of annual contribution goals and participates in major capital initiatives and property development efforts.
  • Ensures that branches meet member retention goals to achieve the mission of the Y.
  • Manages the delivery of quality programs to branch following our strategic tenets.
  • Provides leadership to Branch Executives and other key leaders to recruit, retain, develop and motivate a diverse, mission-driven staff team.
  • Partners with learning and development to ensure staff development and succession planning.
  • Provides input into the strategic planning process.
  • Manages assigned branches in a manner that achieves organizational objectives in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develops and maintains branch facilities that meet the needs of current and potential members and the Association’s safety, service, and security objectives.
