We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Vice President, Business Development. This is an amazing opportunity for an energetic “hands-on get-it-done” individual to contribute to the development of business of the highest importance to the future growth of the Corporation.

The VP, Business Development will report to POC’s Senior Vice President of Business Development and will actively engage in development and execution of the POC’s Navy Airborne Systems growth plan through development and capture of new business which today is primarily focused in Mission Systems Avionics. This position requires execution of numerous tasks, including shaping POC’s Navy growth strategy, customer interaction, influencing / understanding RFP requirements, competitive analysis, leading capture management activities and guiding proposals to win pursuits. This position will require oversite and management of POC’s Navy BD team as well as coordination with POC’s various Divisions to meet POC’s growth and achieve the yearly orders target in the Navy market segment.

The ideal candidate will be recognized as an internal expert and thought leader in Mission Systems Avionics with broad experience across multiple job areas such as business development, systems engineering, and program management. The individual will communicate within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to achieve desired business results. This individual will champion new systems, concepts, or technologies and recommend tactics and strategies that directly impact the achievement of overall business results. This Individual will develop and execute capture strategies to win new Navy Airborne business including lead system integration roles for development and follow-on production business. This will involve working directly with government customers acquisition agencies (NAVAIR) and Tier 1 system integrators (e.g. Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop).


Responsibilities:

  • Identification and capture of new business including Small Business Innovation Research Transition with focus on year over year revenue growth.
  • Support strategic long-range planning, market analyses and forecast data for DoD and commercial market sector.
  • Actively participate in the identification and qualification process of potential business opportunities to ensure alignment with POC’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Lead capture and proposal team activities with a focus on customer requirements and budget, competitive intelligence and price-to-win analyses.
  • Conduct customer engagements and customer call planning with the purpose of establishing critical trust with senior leaders of Navy Airborne programs and platforms.
  • Identification of strategic alliances, teammates and partners for key pursuit opportunities.
  • Participate in relevant trade shows, industry days and seminars to stay abreast of customer strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Will be required to travel up to 50%.

Desired:

  • Experience with NAVAIR Programs and Platforms
  • Advanced degree is a plus
  • Former pilot is a plus

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Electrical/Avionics Engineering, Computer Science or similar with 10 years of experience.
  • 7+ years of Business Development experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Mission Systems Avionics or other relevant electronic systems ie: avionics, airborne payload (EO/IR, Radar, EW) or vehicle systems.
  • Practical understanding of technology transitioning, product/market development, and marketing/product planning for US military applications (preferably specific to avionics programs)
  • Knowledge of conducting and directing competitive product analysis using market research techniques and a solid technical understanding of service/agency needs and requirements
  • Must have proposal development/writing and basic contracting/negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent communication (presentation, written, and verbal), and relationship building skills. Good problem-solving ability to work with a diverse work force.
