As a Sr Director, Decisioning at SAS, you will be a leader with demonstrated success operationalizing analytics to drive organizational decisioning. You will be passionate about applying your business knowledge, leadership, and collaboration with the discipline of execution for all phases of product development and delivery as a standalone product as well as functionality embedded in more comprehensive SAS Solutions. One of the defining impacts of SAS software is helping customers make better and more timely decisions. Customers don’t want to buy different decisioning technologies from different vendors across their enterprise. They want SAS to deliver a decisioning framework that can work across their lines of business. To meet this growing market demand, Research and Development (R&D) Engineering is establishing a dedicated Decisioning division to scale our core decisioning capabilities.
This highly visible role will report to the Senior Vice President of Research and Development Engineering and interact with senior leaders and development teams across R&D and the company. We are looking for a leader to approach this role with new ideas, a sense of urgency, alignment to the CTO vision and most importantly the drive to succeed, with a proven ability to deliver.


What you’ll do

  • Develop strategic priorities for the group and the decisioning framework.
  • Create and reinforce a goal-oriented, collaborative culture amongst and across the business units.
  • Controls, plans, and directs the activities for a R&D division or multiple departments ensuring alignment with division and corporate goals.
  • Provides product direction leadership through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Customers, and others within and outside SAS.
  • Manage the heavily matrixed environment with a focus on collaboration and prioritization.
  • Create and support a culture that is focused on critical thinking; prioritize the development of business acumen and its applicability to help customers achieve business value.
  • Monitor and ensure products/projects adhere to established R&D practices, procedures and schedules.
  • Provide technical leadership as appropriate to the division/department.
  • Initiate and enable cross-divisional collaboration to improve overall effectiveness of the R&D organization.
  • Represent the company and provides product presentations within or outside the company.
  • Proactively identify and navigate potential issues in order to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Ensure necessary change and support documentation.


What we’re looking for

  • You have a bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years of related analytics experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing technical staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrable success operationalizing analytics to drive decisioning in current or previous role.
  • Demonstrated success refining product requirements and leading an organization to develop and deliver products and tools that meet those requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, especially with a matrix environment and change agent skill set.
  • Ability to bring form and structure to the ambiguous
  • Extremely strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Advanced abilities in business modeling.
  • Proven ability to interface, influence and manage with all levels of organization.
