NC State is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Regional Assistant Director. We are looking for an Assistant Director who will represent NC State to prospective students, families, and school counselors in the Northeastern region of the US (primarily Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York). The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Undergraduate Admissions office in identifying, recruiting, and enrolling a new academically strong and diverse student class from the northeastern region of the US. The position will be located within a reasonable commute to one of our targeted areas and represent NC State to students, parents, and school counselors from the region. The individual selected will serve as a presenter at high school and college programs, recruitment events, and regional counselor meetings. They be highly involved in planning and executing our recruitment and outreach efforts in the region. In addition, this person will be responsible for reviewing academic credentials of a high volume of applicants and making appropriate determinations on admissibility to the University. This position is a highly visible admissions position with key recruitment efforts and involvement across various stakeholders. This person must be comfortable speaking in front of large audiences as well as one-on-one with students, families, alumni, and school counselors. They must represent NC State and articulate the benefits of enrollment to various audiences (with a clear understanding NC State’s policies and procedures). Recruitment efforts will involve extensive travel and considerable public speaking. Weekend and evening work will be required occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications:
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience. * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work creatively, collaboratively, independently, and effectively as a team member * Experience in program planning and administration * Strong organization and time management skills to ensure scheduled deadlines * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exercise judgement, and handle multiple projects * Computer proficiency â?? must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized management information systems (databases) * Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or administrative policies and procedures * Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters * Work requires in-depth analysis and counseling skills along with independent judgment and discretion to render appropriate admissions decisions in an increasingly competitive market * Flexibility to travel for extended periods * Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation
