The Director-Curator provides leadership in arts programming based in the Perlman Teaching Museum. A specialist in and advocate for visual teaching and learning, the Director-Curator oversees exhibit planning, develops strong collaborative relationships with faculty, and fosters and strengthens the pedagogical role of exhibitions and the art collection in the college.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular full benefit eligible position.

- In consultation with the Arts and Exhibitions Committee and colleagues across the college, articulate a vision for the Perlman Teaching Museum and develop programming that connects art objects and artifacts to themes in the liberal arts.
- Plan exhibitions every term that feature loan and collection objects; usually centered in the museum, these can extend to satellite locations.
- Manage the exhibition projects according to professional museum standards.
- Coordinate and consult with other campus exhibitors, including the Curator of the Art in the Library Program.
- Collaborate with College Communications professionals to handle publicity for museum events and orchestrate publications complementary to exhibitions on an occasional basis.
- Be the primary steward of the college art collection, overseeing the care, use, and growth of the collection through targeted acquisitions and the cultivation of relationships with donors.
- Integrate students into museum operations through student employment, special projects, courses, and student exhibitions.
- Represent the college in the academic museum arena, contributing to innovations in best practices among teaching museums and college or university affiliated art museums.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other galleries or museums in the region.

Additional Job Responsibilities
- May teach courses related to Museum Studies and Curatorial Practices on a regular or occasional basis; such courses may be offered in conjunction with an exhibition, in collaboration with a faculty-taught course, or as a special project connected to the art collection.
- Initiate campus art installations or commissions, and collaborate with others in planning and implementing multi-media and multi-disciplinary arts events.
- Graduate degree in art history, museum studies, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience (3 or more years) organizing exhibitions and managing collections.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Previous people management experience
