Job Description
The Claims Assistant Vice President is a crucial role within the Claims Department. Assists in the formulation and implementation of overall claims strategy. Assists in developing, maintaining and reporting Claims Department metrics, responsible for claims compliance and managing third party administrators. Leads the Corporate Claims Department under the supervision of the VP of Claims. This key function will assist us in developing our strategies moving forward.
Your Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assists in the development, implementation and updating of claims best practices, policies, and procedures.
2. Responsible for auditing and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines.
3. Manages relationships and work product of claims handling partners.
4. Partner with Product/Underwriting, Sales, and Operational leadership to optimize overall product design, marketing, and delivery.
5. Assist in consistently managing the claims processes; coordinates efforts with other claims functions such as QA, claims legal, subrogation, SIU, service centers, claims technical and claims staff support.
6. Monitors progress and resolves any identified issues; provides resolution recommendations.
7. Assist in implementing corporate plans, long range goals and objectives.
8. Delivers a positive customer service experience to all internal, external, current and prospective customers.
9. Assist in achieving overall organizational objectives and profitable growth.
10. Recommends process improvements aimed at ensuring best-in-class service.
11. Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze the claims exposure, to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately settle the claim.
12. Able to clearly communicate concise action plans, and present plans for moving the case to conclusion.
13. Responsible for claims/third party administration oversight that is consistent with corporate policies, procedures and “best practices” in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
14. Analyzes and works toward improvement of claim performance and quality through the use of metrics and quality assurance audits.
15. Manages select administrative functions.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university required.
Licenses/Designations: State licensing where required.
Experience: Minimum ten (10) yearsâ experience in a claims operation including at least two years in claims management. Some experience in product management desired.
Knowledge: Requires advanced knowledge of claims best practices, technical claims operations, procedures and claims performance strategies and day-to-day claims operations.

Physical Demands:
