ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR – NATURAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT

The Associate Director will report to the Director of Natural Sciences Department and will contribute to the various aspects of the Department’s management, development and strategic planning. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director in supporting the top priorities of the Department. She/he will also be the primary executor of day-to-day operations. She/he will represent the Director at any official meeting or event in which the Director is not able to attend.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Administration or Education fields
  • At least 5 years of experience in an academic setting and administrative roles
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish & English)
  • Strong technological skills

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary function of the Associate Director is to support and co-lead the key priorities of the Department under the supervision of the Director. Immediate priorities for the Department of Natural Sciences include:

  • Successful CCNE accreditation of its nursing BSN program
  • Fundraising and Development, including (but not limited) educational and research grant submissions to federal agencies and foundations
  • Comprehensive Curricular Revision and Structural Restructure of the Department’s nursing programs
  • Development, Growth and Nurturing of External Relationships (such as Fideicomiso -PR Science Trust-, PR Consortium of Clinical Research, CienciasPR, external research and internship venues, etc.)
  • Development of various new academic offers: BS in Neuroscience, MS in Exercise Sciences, MS in Nursing, BA in Education with specialty in neuroscience
  • Primary Executor for a variety of day-to-day Department operations, including but not limited to:
  • Staff supervision
  • Staff payroll
  • Course programming
  • Approval of purchases (based on institutional budget)
  • Change of Grades
  • Solve student concerns
  • Prepare general departmental reports
  • Assessment of validation (‘convalidar’) requests
  • Writing Letters of Recommendations for students
