Vice President of Software Development
Woodruff Sawyer is looking for a dynamic leader to help lead and develop our software development process and teams. As the Vice President, you will be responsible for Software Development for one of the largest independent Insurance Brokers in the country, Partnering with our CIO, you will be responsible for defining the standards and strategy for the Software Development Practice, mentoring and growing an execution-focused team, and Enterprise Architecture. The successful candidate will be both a hands-on, skilled manager as well as someone who can work collaboratively with our internal partners.
What You Will Be Doing:
The position will be responsible for managing software development and applications related to both hosted and managed solutions. The primary responsibility will be the management and ongoing maintenance of transactional interfaces with financial institutions, with secondary responsibilities involving management and review of web, database and service applications in a distributed environment. The IT leader will be expected to lead the work of others and to deliver all projects on schedule, on budget, and to specification.
- Management and direct supervision of resources encompassing all aspects of the software development life cycle
- Maintain relationships with financial/technical partners, including clients and external vendor partners
- Hire and lead all levels of experienced IT
- Have a deep understanding of the insurance industry
- Establish and maintain the development program KPIs for reporting.
- Commit on engineeringâs behalf as it relates to development programs for delivery on-time and on-budget
- Cultivate and develop highly productive teams
- Work with all levels of management internally, externally, and cross-culturally
- Lead new product development teams while maintaining flawless execution of production systems
- Lead teams of diverse technical disciplines (HW, SW, Certification, Installations)
- Manage engineering department including budgets, hiring, performance, training, & salaries
- Present to executive level business leaders in Sphere
Management of a 3rd party technical resources as needed for project delivery

What you have done:
- You have a minimum 10-15 years of experience leading/developing database driven web application development teams, specifically with .Net and SQL Server.
- You have at least 8-10 years managing successful software development teams
- You have experience with high volume and highly reliable interface development and support in a secure environment
- You have at least 5 Years of experience in the Insurance Industry
- You have been involved with multiple modes of Software Development Lifecycles: Agile, Waterfall, Spiral, etc.
- You have a minimum 5 years of Experience managing offshore development teams.
- You have 5 years of experience with either Azure or AWS.
- You have a Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or relative experience
