Description:
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be directly supervising all aspects of a small team of passionate and accomplished engineers and technicians assigned to Mission Operations Transportation & Handling. You will share in the teamâs impact on all aspects of handling Vehicle stages, Payload, Space Vehicle and Integrated Launch Vehicle supporting New Glenn Mission Operations. This role requires collaboration with internal and external teams to manage and coordinate transport operations. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate operation of transportation equipment including dual-lane modular trailers on public roads, private yards and during loading operations
- Responsible for daily tasking of personnel, time cards and performance reviews. Will verify that all work is being performed efficiently, safely and meets the quality standards
- Direct and support assembly, disassembly, and set and configure Modular Trailers and SPMT (Sheuerle, KAMAG) in any configuration required for Stage Transportation between Blue Origin facilities.
- Efficiently and safely carry out loading and offloading. This could include lifting, installing, rigging and weighing large heavy loads for many different projects
- Demonstrate a Safety Oriented approach to transportation operations, reducing risk of potential injuries and accidents
- Provides operational execution schedule identifying resource risks, tooling, equipment and rigging needs, scheduling cranes and operators and coordinating transport including rental needs
- Works directly with engineers to plan and execute transportation operations, ground support equipment (GSE) functionality, certification, and periodic maintenance of lifting tools and associated support equipment.
- Performs pre-mission dry runs to ensure functionality and operational readiness of transportation equipment and personnel
- Responsible for planning and managing Material Handling Equipment (MHE) while maintaining OSHA and ASME requirements associated with equipment and rigging
- Operate transport and handling equipment as necessary (heavy transporters, tractor units, MHE)
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizationâs policies including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, planning and directing work
Qualifications:
- Has background with transport operations of critical flight hardware and oversized loads
- Has basic knowledge of engineering drawings/sketches and is able to ensure that loads, loading methods, load securing and load transport comply with plan
- Familiar with range safety and technical documents to comply with AFSPCMAN 91-710
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
