Candidate to lead scrum team for connected device development. Primary responsibilities include monitoring the scrum processes and ensuring proper execution of the scrum rules established by the team. This role will involve engaging with the technical teams driving for self-management through agile practices to increase team efficiency, quality and timeliness of deliverables. This engagement will require direct interaction with the technical teams to provide recommendations on process improvement, quality assurance, problem resolution and other related project-lead activities. This position will also require the definition of done is defined and completed for each task prior to releasing into end user systems.

Position will require coordination with the IoT product owner to negotiate for competing feature priorities to address any quality and efficiency concerns and to help streamline the backlog maintenance. This position will require strong problem solving and communication skills and will be responsible for improving transparency between the developers and the business.

Person in the role must have experience in playing the scrum master role and will be leaned on to provide guidance on Agile/Scrum best practices. This will require an assessment of the team and the organization, help coach the team to new levels of maturity, and monitor/report progress. This will also require the facilitation of work and help provide an environment for discussion, decision making and conflict resolution.


Position Profile (Major duties, accountabilities, and responsibilities)

  • Manage project(s) utilizing standard project management tools and techniques
  • Serve as Scrum Master for connected device development projects
  • Coach teams in following scrum practices
  • Coordinate in resolving issues, addressing risks; escalate concerns, and facilitate decision-making
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure/report the progress and value of the project, including a comprehensive project plan and project deliverables
  • Conduct/Facilitate scrum ceremonies such as Daily Standup, Grooming, Planning, Sprint Review and Retrospectives
  • Nurture an environment where project issues can be raised in a safe environment without fear of blame
  • Work with other departmental Project Managers to facilitate dependencies
  • Provide concise project status report on a regular or as requested basis
  • Create and maintain ‘as is’ or ‘to be’ workflow and other system documentation for ongoing projects
  • Proactively identify trends in project implementation and recommend process improvement
  • Assess the Agile maturity and coach team to go to the higher levels of maturity
    • May be required to perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e. degree, years of experience, etc.)

  • Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree
  • Specific concentration: Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience level:
    • 5+ years IT Project Management experience or related information technology field
    • 3+ years Agile/Scrum development
    • 2+ years Scrum Master experience

REQUIRED SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR SKILLS:

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum tools such as VSTS, Azure DevOps or equivalent tool
  • Strong ability to partner with cross-functional teams to deliver project goals
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, conflict management, and communication skills
  • Ability to perform planning for multiple initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to provide services to meet project needs within the timeline and the budget
  • Ability to effectively manage project scope, and communicate with partners in IT, business, and vendors
  • Good computer skills, including experience in tools like MS Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and others

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e. MBA, certifications, etc.)

  • Scrum certification
  • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environments
  • Understanding of the role of software development tools and processes such as version control, defect and issue trackers, build processes, team collaboration tools
  • Experience working with dispersed teams, and using online communication tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, or similar
  • Experience working with many development teams (varied personalities and communication styles)
  • Experience managing deployment processes
