Job Description The Scrum Master role in QNXT is primarily one of facilitation, communication, and coaching. As a facilitator, the Scrum Master makes everyone else’s job easier (particularly his PO’s job and that of the team/s he/she works with) by “paving” their path to success, keeping an eye for roadblocks and clearing them along the way. The Scrum Master often sees problems before they occur, is a “gatherer” of data and is able to make sense of it in order to make future predictions or analyze the past to better learn and improve from it. As a communicator, the Scrum Master is able to influence people at many levels, from leadership and management to individual contributors. The Scrum Master is also able to present data, communicate vision objectively, clearly, and in a positive manner. Finally, as a coach, the Scrum Master is expected to clearly communicate expectations, identify bad behaviors and actors and call those out (in a constructive way) when present. He or she should also be able to coach others to correct those behaviors and continuously improve, first by modeling behavior, then by setting the same expectation of others. This is a servant leadership role with no organizational authority over people. Humility and a desire to help others succeed are key values for this role. Responsibilities

Facilitation of Scrum and other meetings: daily scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews, backlog refinement, etc

Set clear deliverables with teams and keep teams on track to deliver on their commitments

Orchestrate, track, and communicate dependencies across multiple development teams

Represent/Convey leadership interests/direction to teams

Own the planning of team sprints and releases

Ensure the team is clear on direction and deliverables

Coach team members, Product Owner, and other stake holders on Agile values, principles, and practices

Work to ensure a collaborative culture exists within the team

Not afraid to call out inappropriate behavior and establish collaboration (in addition to modeling it)

Is able to coach others (at various levels) on Agile values, principles, and practices. Is very familiar with Agile (Scrum) and Lean frameworks (e.g Kanban). Experience doing Devops is a huge plus.

An influential communicator. Has the ability to influence people both in the team and outside it without resorting to a “command-and-control” style. This role should be one with experience in building bridges and relationships at various organizational levels

Has the ability to understand how decisions are made in an organization, who makes those decisions, which alliances exist, and how to use that understanding to carry the cause of the team forward

Has technical background in software development and/or healthcare. Needs to understand how the various parts of the process interact. Continuous build systems, source control, planning tools, and engineering practices are just a few areas this role needs to be familiar with.

Has a strong nose for data and is able to make sense of it to team members to track progress and help improve, and to stakeholders to communicate progress, impediments, risks, and opportunities

Has strong facilitation skills. Able to organize the right people in order to solve a problem. Able to keep the conversation focused and the team on task, identify action items, next steps, and communicate those to ensure closure of open items

Is light-hearted, creative, and easy to work with

Loves to solve problems and is good at it

Checks her/his ego at the door. Additional Desirable Skills

Hands-on experience doing Devops or having worked directly with teams that do Devops
