    The Office & Events Manager has the unique opportunity to be the face of StartX and will have the responsibility to bring StartX’s work environment to life. From greeting people who visit the office on a daily basis to hosting large tours for groups like the University of Prague and the Chinese Government Technology Group, the Office Manager represents the entire StartX community with charisma and passion. The Office Manager will also act as the liaison and work with office partners to create an ideal office and work environment for the staff and founders. They will organize logistics for in-office events and play a critical role in delegating event roles to staff. Creating and curating a great workplace experience will be one of the goals of the Office Manager who will see the direct impact of his or her work through the satisfaction of the StartX staff, founders and distinguished visitors.

    Responsibilities

    • Daily
      • Greet guests in friendly manner; check calendar for important guests
      • Politely screen and redirect unwanted guests
      • Ensure staff is happy/healthy
      • Be in charge of making sure that we have the office culture that we want (e.g. noise level, behavior, respectful use of conference rooms etc.)
      • Help founders with office questions and help to route them to the right person internally
      • Receive mail
      • Handle outgoing mail and packages
      • Sort StartX Mail: route to appropriate staff and/or add to finance/legal drawer as necessary
      • Tidy office
      • Organize conference rooms (bring supplies and tidy)
      • Help set up for events in the office (if needed)
      • EOD make sure all doors and windows are closed and lights are off )
    • Weekly
      • Meet with Operations lead to check in on progress and tasks, give/get feedback
      • Work with the Finance team to deposit checks, manage monthly alumni rent distribution and collection
      • Organize and plan both informal and formal office tours
      • Organize logistics and delegate staff roles for in-office events with founders
      • Clean/check kitchen and fridge
      • Take inventory of supplies and reorder when needed
      • Order supplies (including office snacks)
    • General
      • Maintain/Improve Culture by working with culture team and office partners
      • Exhibit Staff Values and encourage staff and founders to do so as well
      • Get feedback from staff and founders to make office improvements
      • Help brainstorm and plan social events for staff
      • Manage office partnerships for StartX alumni
      • Coordinate with furniture suppliers, property manager (Alexandria), janitorial (JanPro), and security companies as necessary
      • Coordinate with tech team on WiFi and other related tech issues as necessary
      • Make copies of keys as necessary
      • Send out emails regarding office policies during holiday (and bring holiday spirit)
      • Monitor desk usage for drop-ins
      • Monitor office usage
      • Overall customer office experience

    • We’re looking for the following qualifications:
      • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
      • Some financial experience is a plus

    Compensation
