EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

(Preferred)

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling & three years of full time paid work experience with Adults, one of which needs to be in a adult residential facility and working directly with individuals with mental retardation or a developmental disability from an accredited college/university

(Minimum)

  • A baccalaureate degree in a Human Services Field & have at least one year working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or a developmental disability from an accredited college/univeristy
  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified, and be MEDS certified and TOVA certified. Must pass background check & center registry check

DUTIES ( but not limited to):

  • Assists in developing service plans, objectives & methods necessary for providing effective treatment services to individual clients;
  • Maintains appropriate discipline in the care and supervision of clients and is responsible for the development & implementation of structured activities during assigned work hours;
  • Promotes good community relations and utilizes appropriate community resources;
  • Assists with counseling decisions concerning clients and with follow-thru on those decisions;
  • Participates in staff meetings, group activities essential for the operation of an effective program
  • Oversees assessments, service planning, staff scheduling and supervision
  • Works with individual and groups in specific skill areas as designated by the OWNER;
  • Provides, in the absence of the OWNER, the necessary implementation & supervision required in order to continue established and essential programming


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of life skills counseling techniques, basic residential procedures and appropriate intervention techniques with socially and emotionally maladjusted clients, knowledge of group process skills and group management skills, Must demonstrate a level of basic academic skills necessary to effectively perform the responsibilities of this position. Ability to creatively organize and implement a variety of supplemental programs for clients. Ability to work within a team model of management. Through previous life and work experiences, demonstrated ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to adults in the age range for which he/she shall be responsible.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid Waiver programs
  • Knowledge of community Mental Health & Intellectual Disability resources
  • Skill in effective written & verbal communication
  • Skill in use of issues related to Individual’s rights
  • Ability to coordinate services for individuals in program
  • Ability to create, compose & edit written material
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of programs & make individual modifications
  • Ability to make admin/procedural decisions & judgements

  • Ability to provide quality assurance/quality improvement process in the organization.
