As a Managing Director, you can expect to work on a range of complex and critical projects in the areas of turnaround management, distress management and business advisory. Our consultants work together on each client engagement as a team of 2-3 members. Our professionals consult and collaborate with one another to execute the best results for our clients. Oftentimes, our consultants are assigned to multiple engagements at one time.

Winter Harbor expects Managing Directors to take an active and authoritative role during engagements. Managing Directors are responsible for the oversight of engagements and client relationships. Managing Directors will supervise the planning, development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies towards advancing a clients’ operations and financial status. Specifically, on behalf of the client, Managing Directors will manage the stabilization of business operations, development of cash flow projections, relationships with staff and key vendors, and lead negotiations with creditors.

Additionally, Managing Directors are expected to provide the following services to clients:

  • Review financial documents and perform detailed analysis of statements.
  • Develop operational assessments with recommendations for improvement.
  • Construct financial and operational models.
  • Contribute to the development of a strategic business plan for the client.
  • Act as liaison between the client and its lenders, constituents and vendors.
  • Present models, assessments and recommendations to executive management.

Winter Harbor requires applicants of the Managing Director role to possess the following qualifications:

  • College degree and advanced degree (preferred) in related field.
  • 15-20 years of professional consulting experience within the restructuring and turnaround industry.
  • Previously served as director or in an executive management role.
  • Strong financial modeling, analysis and business assessment experience.
  • Superior problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to travel to and remain onsite for extended periods during a client engagement.
  • Demonstrated capability to serve as group leader and manage relationships with clients and their constituents.
  • Effective communication and relationship management skills, professionalism and leadership qualities.
  • Strong corporate acumen and operational business awareness.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to work with clients across various sectors and business types.
  • Commitment to Winter Harbor’s corporate culture and values of respect and integrity.
  • Proficient computer literacy with advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
