Denver International Airport is looking for a Senior Vice President of Aviation Concessions. This position is a key member of the leadership team and is responsible for leading the airport’s concessions team. This position manages a division of 14 employees responsible for carrying out DEN’s concessions program development and administration functions.

Job Duties:
- Provides oversight to concessions development and analysis, concessions administration, and concessions tenant design and construction, leveraging external consultants as needed to support all aspects of the program
- Fosters an atmosphere of execution in order to deliver on DEN’s concessions master plan
- Develops and establishes concessions standards, procedures, systems and guidelines for DEN. Provides expertise, consultative guidance and direction for the executive team.
- Represents the organization’s positions, initiatives and interests with a focus on the delivery of superior customer service; ensures staff is sufficiently knowledgeable and dynamic regarding customer service protocols. Provides expert advice on concessions matters to internal and external stakeholders.
- Makes short and long-term precedent-setting decisions impacting multiple functional and operational areas.
- Working with the Executive Vice President and outside advisors, establishes the strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives within the division and measures performance regularly.
- Develops and implements strategies for optimizing performance with the goal of meeting or exceeding the established KPI performance benchmarks.
- Ensures all budgets remain at or below established targets.
- Resolves operational and management issues, makes decisions that include multiple perspectives, and solves underlying problems. Contributes to the development and implementation of section work plans based on the annual and strategic plans.
- Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, and challenges.
- Coaches, mentors, and challenges staff. Champions continuous improvement, including devising new strategies and new opportunities. Leads staff development initiatives that include training, development and succession planning.
- Establishes performance expectations and standards for all levels of employees to achieve or exceed performance metrics and prepare them for the future.

About You
DEN is looking for a leader with demonstrated business and political acumen, sound understanding of the business practices necessary to develop a quality concessions program, results driven, has experience working with staff at all levels, and a proven track record of excellent performance in an airport concessions program. DEN is also looking for an innovative thinker, with a good understanding of the market dynamics impacting future concessions development at airports.
The Ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
- 10 years of professional experience with aviation concessions and/or related commercial experience.
- 5 years of relevant management experience.
- Articulate, confident, poised and engaged.
- Initiative and flexibility, with the ability to get things done while being cool under pressure.
- Track record for developing and maintaining trusted and effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and exhibit credibility with others.
- Demonstrated leadership and positive performance skills as it relates to managing staff.

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to the specific functional or operational area.
- Experience: Three (3) years of management level work experience which must have included managing professional level staff specific to the functional or operational area in the field of study. One (1) year of management experience must include budget and fiscal oversight responsibility, evaluation of business processes, and policy and decision-making experience with planning and organizing multiple programs, projects, operations or functions.
- Equivalency: Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
