Position: Senior Project Manager
Position Summary
Client rank projects from small to large and may or may not involve technology. Two examples would be a project involving new rating structures for a new product line (no technology) vs. creating a new client facing portal for an existing product.
All project life cycles involve an Intake, Planning, Execution, and Commissioning stage. The success of a project is largely determined by its timely execution and the adequacy of the deliverable to meet the initial request and business objectives.
The Project Manager drives the planning of resources during the Intake & Planning stage, defines the detailed execution plan (WBS, GANTT) with the Senior Business Analyst during the Execution stage, and manages the project and parties involved to achieve on time and on budget completion. Project management and mitigation when needed to meet target is key.

– Absence of scope creep arising from non-adherence to scope and specifications
– On time and on budget delivery with effective mitigation of obstacles
– Customer satisfaction upon commissioning – delivering what was asked
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plans, directs, and manages implementation of small to large projects defined by business stakeholders, by coordinating activities across all necessary functional areas
2. Becomes a subject matter expert that does not simply push a project through the project management lifecycle but also ensures that business value is delivered
3. Ensures project documentation is adequate, prepares project schedules, and coordinates and manages resources, scope, and timelines
4. Analyzes risks, drives decisions to prevent project delays, and keeps projects on time, on budget, and on track to deliver expected business objectives
5. Understands stakeholder needs and concerns, both at the C-level and business unit level, and stays in regular communication with stakeholders to make sure their needs and concerns are addressed
6. Establishes strong relationships with customers, business partners, and other stakeholders by demonstrating area expertise and enterprise business acumen
7. Establishes a strong relationship with project Business Analysts, and provides necessary support in areas that need further guidance
Required Skills & Experience
· Both business and technical proficiency is a requirement for this role, with at least 8 years of experience in project management preferred. Comfortable dealing with a technology and software programming environment as well as with business units
· Ability to speak eloquently and persuasively to business users about technical topics; to speak eloquently to technical people about business related topics; to work smoothly with people from multiple professional disciplines; and to offer presentations of the highest professional quality
· Ability to operate with uncertainty and incomplete information while still moving with confidence and enthusiasm
· Expert proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio. Knowledge of raw data analysis, database design, software development and programming, and SQL experience
· A background in the service industry (Insurance, Banking, Financial, other) with emphasis on project management a plus
