Purpose of Position

Oversees all aspects of library electronic resource management. Coordinates acquisitions, collection development, collections budget, collection assessment, cataloging/metadata, and personnel management related to library resources.


Essential Functions

  • Oversees administrative functions of negotiating, purchasing, licensing, acquiring, renewing, deselecting, evaluating and financial management of electronic and print resources.
  • Prepares fiscal year budget and oversees encumbrance and expenditure of funds for all library materials.
  • Maintains access to and supports interconnectivity of online resources via link resolver and serials management tools in collaboration with the Systems Librarian.
  • Coordinates and manages resources acquired through consortia, including UT System, AMIGOS, the the Texas State Library TexShare program.
  • Oversees upkeep of CORAL, the electronic resources management tool.
  • Oversees cataloging and metadata management for all materials in the general collection, including ejournals, ebooks, music scores, databases, and print materials.
  • Analyzes material usage statistics from a variety of sources.
  • Oversees the review and implementation of collection policies.
  • Facilitates evaluation of holdings for academic accreditation reviews.
  • Assists with data gathering for annual reports as needed, including ACRL, IPEDS, Provost’s Annual Report.
  • Supports the work of library liaisons in collection development and management activities.
  • Works with the library director and all library staff to provide effective leadership and enhance communication and cooperation within the library and the entire university community.
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates three full time staff members and one student worker.


Required Qualifications

– ALA – Accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science

  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five year’s experience in electronic resources management in an academic library.

Broad knowledge of the electronic resources landscape, including authentication technologies; ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment; superb oral and written communication skills; self-motivated professional with high degree of integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle responsibilities with both discretion and independence; demonstrated ability to drive multiple complex projects simultaneously; collegial team player and leader, skilled in giving and receiving constructive input from multiple sources and fostering a positive climate of change.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
