The chief objective of the office manager position is to provide direct administrative support to the Assistant Vice President and other professional staff in the office. Reviews, summarizes, prioritizes and expedites daily issues requiring the attention of the AVP. Assists in carrying out the broad review and programmatic functions required by the AVP. Position has significant responsibility to ensure critical, confidential, and time-sensitive matters are handled appropriately and expeditiously. Position includes extensive interaction with various academic and nonacademic constituents.

Working knowledge of budget and accounting principles. Working knowledge of effective supervisory techniques. Working knowledge of effective customer service techniques. Working knowledge of personnel practices and EO/AA regulations. Comprehensive office management skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Word processing proficiency with strong Microsoft Office and/or applicable software skills. Excellent proofreading and typing skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully multi-task in a busy office environment, with efficient completion of tasks-requiring attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to produce reliable and accurate reports in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to assist in compilation of special projects, preparing reports, and performing calculations. Demonstrated ability to maintain automated database records.

Comprehensive experience in data management. Some experience in office management to include administrative service assistance, customer service, budget management, data-entry, supervision, and reporting.

Previous experience in a higher education setting. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
