- Assure that informed consent is obtained and documented for each patient enrolled in a research protocol
- Accurately apply inclusion and exclusion criteria to screen, enroll, and if applicable, randomize patients into research protocols
- Collect demographic, clinical, and laboratory data on all participants using written and electronic data collection tools
- Supervise the organization of research and clinic activities involving patient recruitment and enrollment into protocols
- Prepare and document operational plans including personnel, space, equipment, and supplies for new and existing protocols
- Evaluate Research Nurse and Medical Assistant scheduling needs and implement decisions to efficiently utilize staff members
- Conduct staff meetings to assess the needs, goals, and plans to assess and monitor recruitment of patients and adherence to research procedures and protocols
- Conduct annual evaluations for all research nurses and medical assistants in order to review and modify individual goals, assess work performance, and support professional development
- Monitor and raise the standard of nursing contributions within the team
- Conduct periodic random reviews of patient charts as a quality control measure for accuracy of patient screening, enrollment, and completeness of data collection
- Ensure that all research activity adheres to study protocols and is conducted through excellent communication with patients, medical personnel, research managers. and investigators
- Possess flexibility in approaching participant needs for studies
- Communicate effectively with both participants and research study personnel
- Establish and maintain good internal and external working relationships with supporting clinical services in order to promote a successful research environment
- Act as a leader, resource, and role model
- Ensure the on-going recruitment of staff when necessary, and ensure that job descriptions are current

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- Minimum of 1-2 years research experience
- Minimum 2 years management experience
- Minimum 2 years antenatal obstetrics experience
- SOCRA certification preferred
- Demonstrated clinical skills and knowledge of sterile techniques
- In-depth knowledge of labor and delivery, prepartum and postpartum patient care, and high-risk antenatal care
- Highly professional and dependable
- Communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with a diverse group of team members
- Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer and internet skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to plan and execute elements associated with multiple protocols
