Altis Biosystems, Inc. is seeking a Ph.D. level scientist with a minimum of ten years of industry experience in cell biology, particularly stem-cell culture. This person should have a strong desire to participate in the development and application of a new technology for screening pharmaceutical compounds and microbiome research. Significant cell-based assay experience is required.
This position will develop, implement and oversee laboratory standard operating protocols (SOP) and quality control (QC) metrics in creating stem-cell based platforms. These platforms re-create gastrointestinal epithelia in a variety of formats meeting the screening requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. The director-level role requires both a strong background in cell biology with an emphasis in stem cell propagation and differentiation. The scientist must have the ability to educate and oversee the implementation of the SOP and QC metrics and documentation by in-house staff scientists. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of platform development in an R&D environment, and have demonstrated excellent problem solving skills. The scientist in this position will be expected to make presentations at scientific meetings and professionally handle interactions with customers and collaborators. The scientist will act as a liaison between customer collaborators and various in-house groups in trouble shooting and the development of new applications.
Specific duties include
* Manage scientific research team
* Establish SOPs for cell-based assays and screens
* Liaison between company and customer/strategic partners
* Develop platforms and ensure successful adoption of technology and products
* Oversee scientific, technical, and applications support during pre- and post-sales process
* Produce data on platform for product demonstration to prospects/customers
* Help develop and provide on-site and/or in-house customer training courses
Position Requirements:
* Ph.D in cell biology, biomedical engineering, or related discipline with an in depth understanding of factors controlling stem cell growth and differentiation. A minimum of seven years prior experience in an industrial setting is a requirement
* Experience in developing and validating cell-based assays and screens
* Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects
* Ability to communicate effectively with both internal colleagues and external scientists
* Demonstrated track record of working and achieving results collaboratively
