The Division of Disability Rights (DDR), housed within the Agency of Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP), is currently looking for an ADA Project Manager.

The Agency of Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) is the umbrella agency for nine offices and one division, which all offer distinct services related to empower the community’s diverse groups. The Division of Disability Rights (DDR) is responsible for implementing and enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) within City government. Title II of the ADA ensures that individuals with disabilities have equal access and opportunities to all governmental activities, programs and services. DDR also works closely with various community members and groups pertaining to issues related to people living with disabilities. Individuals living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Division of Disability Rights: ADA Project Manager

Under supervision of Disability Rights Division Director, duties would include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Serves as the primary point of coordination on a variety of construction activities regarding citywide mandated facility and capital improvement projects to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget.
  • Creating, analyzing and maintaining project schedules and budgets in association with defined scopes of work to remove city-wide architectural barriers to accessibility.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Establish, maintain, and manage the relationship with various clients and stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Understanding and managing the contractual obligations of various consultants.
  • Understanding alternatives in contracting, procurement and project delivery methods.
  • Generating thorough and accurate regular project reports for distribution to stakeholders.
  • Will work in conjunction with the ADA Data & Inspections Specialist to define and manage projects.
  • Measure project performance.
  • Coordinate ADA findings and integrate them into the CIP planning, design, and construction process to maximize efficiency on existing projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

About You

The ideal candidate will have integrity and a strong commitment to public service. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have/be the following:

  • 3 years of proven experience as a project manager
  • Passionate about civil and human rights work.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at one time.
  • Passionate about civil and human rights works.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects
  • Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
