Position Description:

The Vice President of Security Operations and Threat Intelligence role is the senior leader, responsible for overall MSSP operations, the delivery of next generation security services and overall business performance. It includes the oversight of the technical assistance center (TAC), network operations, virtual security operations center (VSOC), threat intelligence, threat analysis and threat hunting portfolio of capabilities. This individual will work with their leadership and team to build, mentor and operate a high-performing Security Operations Services organization by growing a best-in-industry team that exemplifies operational excellence. This role is also responsible for ensuring that delivery models are extensible across our program, partner/franchise and direct clientele. Finally, the Vice President Security Operations and Threat Intelligence will be responsible to provide best-in industry analysis of events, escalation of incidents and managed response for our clients. A qualified candidate will have significant experience working in security operations centers, the business acumen to run a successful operation and the technical security expertise to help define technology, product and service roadmaps.

The VP of Security Operations and Threat Intelligence will work closely with the Service Development, Business Development, Product Management, and Service Delivery teams to help identify, recommend, develop, and implement service solutions for the successful delivery of threat intelligence, operations and response. This is a high visibility role and requires a strong technical and business leader with outstanding internal and external customer service skills who can plan and execute, with operational excellence, to meet Nuspire business objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the security operations, technical assistance center, threat intelligence, analysis and response teams.
  • Develop information security policies, intrusion response procedures, business continuity and disaster recovery procedures, and risk analysis in the context of a complex security infrastructure
  • Lead, grow and expand a global 24X7 security operations team
  • Be highly technical, analytical and forward thinking
  • Be a thought leader and executor in next generation virtual SOC operations.
  • Instill operational rigor that ensures processes are working properly, tickets are worked within pre-defined OLA’s/SLA’s, provide quality outcomes and give timely communication to clients.
  • Work with the teams to design, architect, build, and implement a threat intelligence platform, threat analysis playbooks, consistent and scalable delivery models and processes that support outcomes expected by our clients.
  • Ensure the quality and efficacy of threat intelligence data and its ability to enrich events, analyst investigations, harden the fidelity of escalations back to the client, provide actionable recommendations and a consultative approach in helping with remediation activities.
  • Optimize operations through standard process (without losing the “art” of the role), documentation, automation and training.
  • Support the sales and executive briefing process to help build confidence with clients and our sales teams.
  • Identify additional inputs, services and offerings that can enhance current products and other operations within Nuspire.
  • Ensure client expectations are set, understood, agreed upon and met.
  • Working knowledge of business processes and workflows along with the ability to communicate them in layman’s terms.
  • Communicate effectively to other organizations within Nuspire concerning security operations and threat intelligence service levels, SLAs and metrics.
  • Fully understand end-to-end client engagement from sales through service assurance and provide creative solutions and ideas to sell additional services, improve timeframes for revenue recognition and improve process efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide constant and consistent security incident and cyber threat monitoring, including Level 1, 2, 3 Security Operations Centers

Required Skills:

  • 5 or more years of experience in a senior leadership role of a threat intelligence and/or threat analysis organization.
  • 7 or more years of experience in a senior leadership role of an information security or information technology organization.
  • A track record of working with Agile and DevSecOps practices. Strong project management, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • 10+ years working in a Security Operations Center environment.
  • 15+ years Information Security experience
  • Demonstrated experience building executive relationships
  • Team-oriented and possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Exceptional operational rigor
  • Proven track record of process and service improvements for organizations led in the past.
  • Information security business development experience required.


Education/Certifications/Training Preferred:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university Information Technology, Information Security/Assurance, Engineering or similar area of study; or at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One or more certifications in Security/Networking including CISM, CRISC, CISA, CISSP or other security specific vendor/product certifications
