JSI is seeking to hire a Regulatory Director for either its Greenbelt, Maryland, or Austin, Texas, office. JSI’s regulatory department assists telecom, broadband and video/cable and wireless clients comply with a host of federal and state rules and regulations, including assessment of regulations and their impact; design and enactment of effective compliance procedures; and assistance in filing required applications and waivers.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree: legal, financial, or engineering
  • Experience at FCC, Capitol Hill or State regulatory body or advanced degree preferred
  • Regulatory SME
  • Five (5) years of experience with federal and/or state telecommunications
  • Three (3+) experience in managing people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be self-motivated

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train, mentor and supervise a team of regulatory staff
  • Advise and assist clients in complying with the rules and regulation of the Federal Communications Commission, State Commissions and other Federal and State agencies
  • Draft pleadings, petitions, comments and other advocacy-related documents
  • Oversee and ensure timely execution of all aspects associated with meeting filing and other critical deadlines
  • Inform clients of regulation that may potentially impact them through drafting brief and succinct notices known as “e-lerts”
  • Develop analyses that identify key regulatory opportunities and risks; and provide recommendations
  • Proactively develop and promote new services for the Regulatory Department and the company
  • Provide regulatory advice and support to multidisciplinary teams within the Regulatory and other departments
