Held in New York City and Washington, D.C., Summer Academy (SA) provides an immersive environment during 2-week terms, in which students from across the globe learn, investigate and explore while having fun and discovering friends, mentors and instructors who share their interests.
Position Purpose
Operations Directors work behind the scenes to ensure the facilities of the campus are top notch and the distribution of meal vouchers, subway cards, and supplies are effectively managed and tracked. In addition, Operations Directors are the primary points of contact for when students move in and move out. Operations Directors manage Operations Coordinators and Program Assistants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.
- Coordinate with campus staff on a regular basis to place work orders, assign classrooms, and cleaning schedules
- Manage the turnover of student rooms in between terms and make sure rooms are cleaned in advance of new students arriving
- Assign 100-400 students to roommates in advance of their arrival using online resources
- Ensure all students have campus ID, room key, and swag on day one of arrival
- Track the distribution of resources ranging from meal vouchers to medical supplies
- Assign staff schedules to provide coverage on a 24-hour basis
- Ensure protocols are followed for ordering supplies
Education, Work Experience
Our ideal candidate would meet or exceed the following qualifications:
- Bachelorâs degree or currently in college
- 3+ years of job experience working with youth in summer camps, boarding schools, or residential halls on a college campus
- Enthusiastic about working with youth between the ages 15-18
- Effective communicator on the phone, in person, and online
- Can recognize an issue and address it in a timely manner
- Curious about the city and comfortable exploring it with students

- Salary of $13,000 (11 weeks)

Dates
Operations Specialists move into the residence halls on May 26, 2020 in preparation of training, which begins June 1, 2020. Students arrive on campus June 7, 2020 and leave on July 31, 2020. Operations Specialists will be expected to be available for the full period between May 31 and August 1, 2020; Operations Specialists will move out of the dorms before noon on August 1.
