SUMMARY:

Luminii is looking for a LED Lighting Operations Manager located at its Niles Facility. This successful candidate will have previous lighting or electronics assembly operation experience. This key position will be the operations leader, overseeing and coordinating planning; production; quality; shipping; outside vendors; and information systems. Will be responsible to direct and coordinate all efforts to achieve performance and productivity goals, ensure on-time delivery, maintain quality and minimize operating expenses, while ensuring employee safety. Will be a member of the corporate operations management team and partner closely with corporate supply chain management to implement the company materials strategy. Will work closely with sales leadership, design studio and engineering to deliver on new product introduction and excellence in customer service. Driver of Constant Continuous Improvement. Key initial responsibility is to complete integration of Monterey Park operations and transfer and consolidate defined manufacturing activites from Monterey Park CA to Niles IL. Will spend significant time at all Luminii Operations locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize site operations with properly trained manpower to meet operational requirements (Making necessary manning/overtime adjustments to support monthly production and shipping goals)
  • Perform production planning to ensure a balanced production capacity
  • Develop processes to allow for operational scaling
  • Drive capacity and productivity improvement projects aiming cost savings using process improvement techniques (6Sigma, Lean: Kaizen, 5S etc. as appropriate), working cross-functionally with all other departments
  • Active participation and leadership in corporate NPI, Key Issues and Stage Gate Processes
  • Contribute to corporate task forces on key initiatives
  • Develop, implement, document, continuously improve and enforce company operational policies and procedures for EHS, quality, delivery, inventory performance, and cost productivity
  • Coach and develop next level operations/production management and staff
  • Coordinate all efforts to have all equipment, dies and fixtures available as needed
  • Ensure all production employees are properly trained on Safety, Quality and job-specific skill
  • Assure product quality maintaining close contact with different support departments
  • Maintain close control of operating budget and stay well within operating costs (overtime, manufacturing expenses, etc.)
  • Perform administrative duties concerning company policies, rules, quality (incl RMA) and safety
  • Maintain positive employee relationships
  • Assist Human Resources in resolving employee problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending actions
  • Responsible for onsite information systems and their interfaces to all other company sites and cloud services.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • Preferred MS degree in engineering or Must have BS/BE in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred)
  • 10-15 years Manufacturing leadership experience including Production/Materials experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing; 6 Sigma; Kaizen, 5S, etc
  • Proven Production Operations experience (Prefer previous lighting assembly experience but electronics assembly operations also considered)
  • ERP experience necessary
  • Understanding of Operations Metrics and managing to metrics and ability to influence metrics through planned decision making
  • Experience with forecasting manufacturing needs/manufacturing hours to meet key objectives
  • APICS CPIM preferred
  • Ability to understand bottleneck in shop, improve, identify opportunity for improvement and implement plan for change
  • Some proficiency in Solidworks to review designs; bonus to know AutoCAD; Adobe Creative Suites
