THE ROLE
Providence St. Joseph Health’s Network Services requires a transformational technology leader who will be responsible for network architecture, design, deployment and operations. The Group VP, Network Services will need to operate in a mission critical environment maintaining connectivity services in 51 hospitals, 7 data centers, and 458 clinics in 7 western states. In addition to networks, the Group VP, Network Services will work closely with all members of the IS Infrastructure team and Chief Information Security Officer to ensure networks are secure, resilient, scalable and reliable. In-depth knowledge of cloud, compute, storage, operating systems, and application connectivity and communications requirements is required. This position leads the architecture, design deployment, operation of new systems, and the strategy to replace legacy solutions.
The Group Vice President, Network Services will:
- Lead the next generation of global network design to enable cloud operations and enhanced world-wide collaboration.
- Drive and implement network development using software designed networks.
- Aggregate and understand market trends and future network strategies.
- Connect across platforms to support real-time strategy refinement for both lessons learned and best practices, while driving continuous improvement with our hospitals and clinics to ensure performance metrics.
- Systematically review current network services on an on-going basis to formulate new and revised services to help ensure optimal use, lifecycle management, and capacity planning while affecting improvements, reducing cost, and/or enhancing efficiency.
- Lead by example and help the organization grow while demonstrating outstanding leadership skills, passion, and bringing people along in order to deliver success.
- Work to align resources with project needs and operational needs.
- Make recommendations regarding continuous improvement in the networking environment.
- Maintain and support all network services such as LAN/WAN architecture, routing switching, firewalls, network hardware, wireless, VPN, etc.
- Manage global cloud connectivity design/operations to ensure reliability, scalability and resilience.
- Develop, implement, and maintain network infrastructure to support high availability 24×7, both on premise and in our public cloud.
- Provide team leadership to a global network team.
- Meet regularly with partner service leaders in Compute and Storage to ensure roadmap collaboration.
- Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements to align with budget planning.
- Provide network design, security analysis/design, and implementation.
- Define and coordinate standards and project management.
- Ensure up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories exist.
- Manage all related supplier support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc.
- Provide advance notification of all planned system and network outages and set expectations regarding planned maintenance.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Up to 10% of travel is required.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services, or equivalent education/experience.
- Master’s Degree in Information Services, Business Administration, or related IS field.
- At least 10 years of experience with Information Services, and technical experience in leading network services.
- Over 10 years of demonstrating an ability to create and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex issues such as: technical engineering and support; experience standardizing complex and disparate processes; experience in process improvement methodology, change management; and operational improvement in complex systems.
