The Child Care Center in Norwich, VT, a non-profit, NAEYC accredited program founded in 1971, seeks a visionary Director to lead its high quality early childhood and after school programs into the next half century. Located on four rolling acres just one mile from both the village of Norwich, VT, and Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, the Center is ideally situated to encourage young minds to pursue the wonder and excitement of the natural landscape, the award-winning Montshire Museum of Science, its neighbor, and countless cultural and educational opportunities found in the Upper Connecticut River Valley.

In this role, you will work with families as an active partner in the educational and developmental growth of children. You will engage in high level strategic thinking to plan for the Center’s future, and you will engage in on-the-floor, hands-on play with children. You will build relationships with staff, assist them in accessing opportunities for professional growth, and create a culture of respect, engagement, and two-way communication. You will be active in the classroom, on the playground, and at events, and will create regular and meaningful connections with Center families. You will build partnerships in the community with other non-profit organizations, and will position the Center as the local leader in early childhood educational programming that cultivates wonder, joy, and confidence in children. You value diversity and equity, and are responsive to differences in families’ backgrounds and needs; you will promote equitable access to the Center and its programs.

Your skills, education, and experience:
- You are a visionary thinker and are excited to shape and steward the Center’s future;
- You see children as people and love being part of their unique developmental paths;
- You are motivated to lead your staff to reach their full potential and be their best selves; you have experience as an instructional leader, evaluator and coach, and will support the continual growth of teachers;
- You are a relationship builder and enjoy interacting with families and the community;
- You are passionate and knowledgeable about best practices in early childhood education;
- You have experience in developing budgets and identifying short- and long-term financial needs;
- You will ensure that the Center meets and operates within the requirements of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, funding streams, and reporting requirements;
- You meet the State of Vermont program director licensing requirements to care for 60 or more children.

Advancement, marketing and public relations experience, and at least five years of relevant professional experience are preferred.
